Possible to attach fabric to regular roll shades?

Hi there. We have room-darkening shades in my son's room, the kind that you yank on a bit and then they roll up, and some very sheer white curtains. Is it possible to attach (glue?) fabric onto the shades, or would that render them unable to roll into themselves? (Too bulky?)
