I've never been a big "theme" person. I'm more into subtle design and use of color to create a mood. I also like versatility.
I originally planned to paint the nursery palest blue and have everything else white with a few blue accents. The problem is, I'm having a hard time finding blue and white stuff that isn't themed, floral, or too boring.
So I went online last night and found a couple of sets of bedding that I really like -- and surprised myself, because both are "themed." One is the Sammy Frog bedding by Brandee Danielle:

It's so clean looking and gorgeous! The other is Flyaway by Glenna Jean:

Both are so cute, but rather theme-y. The Flyaway seems more subtle and versatile, but I have my issues with it -- I'd probably end up mixing and matching from other collections (for example, the Ladybug collection from Pine Creek -- http://www.babyexpressions.com/baby_crib_bedding/PCR4-PC63BC-GP_ladybugs_baby_crib_bedding.php) to cut down on the multicolored gingham. The Sammy Frog is absolutely gorgeous, but I guess I worry I'd be sick of the pastels by winter and frustrated that I'd spent $380 on something so one-dimensional. I mean, I'd have to go with a Frog theme. A theme. The thing I didn't want to do. But it is soooooo pretty . . .
One other option I had considered was Baby Blue Skies by Wendy Bellissimo:

But it's kind of boring for the price. I hate to spend that kind of money and end up with the overall effect no different than if I had just bought the basics at Babies R Us. Nothing against BRU -- I just wouldn't pay that kind of cash there.
Thoughts?????
