I know I've posted some of my nursery in the furniture section as people asked about cribs, dressers and changing areas, and I think I posted the same picture in this forum a while back touting the barnyard theme.

I'll post a few here of DS#2's nursery. These aren't the "fully completed" pix since we didn't have the diapering stuff on the double dresser nor the glider rocker in the room when these were taken, but you get the idea.

The bedding is PB Kids. The crib is the Pali Paula. The dressers are Ragazzi's "Shaker Country Charms" series in natural with cherry tops and nobs.

The muralist lives in the Chicago area if anyone is interested. She can do anything from simple like this to incredibly realistic and detailed.

We're still in need of a ceiling fan and some nice x-light blinds.

I think we have the same crib, or at least the same style of crib. Too cool. Is it the Sorelle Rosemary?

lmintzer

Actually, it's by Pali (the "Paula" model). But I've seen similar designs by other manufacturers. We bought this one in 2001 for our first DS. We just love it!

Wow, everyone's nursery looks so great! I actually just took a few new pictures of our nursery. I have posted pictures in the past but I have no idea where to find them now!

Even after a year I still am happy with our nursery. I have to say this picture was taken after putting after putting away the 30 or so presents she received for her first birthday. One of the best things I did (thanks to this board and the BB book) was to incorporate a lot of storage into our nursery. Instead of a toy box we have 4 Pottery Barn baskets on her bookshelf and we have an Elfa closet organizer built into her small closet. Now that we have had her first birthday and first Christmas the bottom 2 (of 5) drawers and two shelves in her closet organizer are full of toys. We still have room to grow! I thought it would be impossible to incorporate all of her toys into her room but it really was very easy thanks to a little work on the front end! Anyway, here are the pictures.

Are those book shelves above the changing table from Pottery Barn? Is it all one pece or did you just mount 3 close together. It looks great!

Everyones pics are gorgeous-I am impressed! I need to get cracking on #2s room. Haven't even started yet -thanks for the inspiring pics!

Thanks! Yes, the shelf above the changing table is from Pottery Barmn Kids. I think they call it a magazine rack, although I am not sure if they sell it anymore. I bet you could find it on Ebay though. It is a great way to store all of her books. And now when we get on the changing table she gets a book to play with while I am changing her. It keeps her occupied!

I really like how you put the moulding shelf for extra storage over the changing table. That's a neat idea!

Great fabrics too -- I love fabrics, but am not experienced with decorating with them yet.

For the person with the animals mural -- they're great! Especially love the zebra. I'd love to try a DIY mural (if I find the time!)

This is a gorgeous nursery! I love the colors - where did you find the changing table\dresser in that color?

We had an old dresser we had bought at Pier 1 that we painted. It is a rasberry colour. It took about three coats. The nightstand was one we bought at Target and painted as well. Just sand off the finish and then use a foam roller to roll on. Worked great. If you have a fabric, you can take it to the paint store and have them match the colour almost exactly.

Wow! I wish I would have asked this question when I was thinking of how to decorate our nursery. Lampes - I love what you did with your nursery -- it is just beautiful. I had seen it a while ago and was trying to show it to my husband but couldn't find the link.

We decided to go with the Malawi theme from Kidsline for bedding and decorating. The furniture is the from Legacy - Madison collection and the crib is also from Legacy. We also got a Dutailer reclining and lock glider. We just completed the room about a week ago and I am so happy it's done as my due date is one week away.

The animal theme is very cool. Having had my baby now, I wonder if something like your bedding would be more interesting. I noticed that we have the same swing. I love that aquarium cradle swing and wish that more swings had the side to side swing option.

Sam had two nurseries since we moved when he was six months old and I could't imagine doing all the same painting all over again. His first nursery was more gender neutral because we didn't know he was a boy, although I was 99.9% sure.

I have to say, all the nurseries pictured in this thread are really outstanding! You can tell that the parents on these boards put a lot of love and time into their children.

Ashley,
What a sweet baby's room! Can I ask who makes the great changing table and shelving above it? Did you paint them yourself? Looks like an awful lot of work, but what a payoff. I love it.

I LOVE your nursery! I am thinking about doing a sailboat theme in DS's room and was wondering where you ordered your stencil from. Had you done stenciling before or was this your first (and second!) time? It sure looks like a professional job--beautifully done!

Mommy_Again
06-29-2004, 02:59 PM
LOL...my grandfather made both many, many years ago. I think he made the changing table when my little brother was a baby. I handpainted both, and it was a ton of work but I loved every minute of it. You can't see from these pictures but the sides and top of the changing table are painted too. Plus, since I was pregnant DH had to do the base coats!! I am nowhere near ready to have another baby but I am already itching to decorate another nursery - it's so fun!

The stencils are from Crafts n Stuff - a Michael's-like store in FL. I just looked at them but there is no brand name printed on the stencil itself. I would be glad to send them to you though if you promise to send them back (if you can't find anything else).

The stenciling was actually MUCH easier than I anticipated- it was my first experience with any type of stencil. The hard part of the room was the faux treatment on the wall to give a soft cloud effect- very time consuming. But I knocked the whole stenciling out in less than 2 hours. I went around with a level first and made pencil marks so it would stay straight, then just taped the stencil up with painters tape. Good luck!

Casey,
Thank you! I am at work so I can't pop into the nursery and take a current picture. The only pictures I could pull off Shutterfly are pretty old, but they give you the general idea. I will try and get a more recent picture tonight. These pictures give you an idea of the basic organization of the closet but, of course, it would be better to see how they are used IRL!

This first one is really old. I think we took it the day we put the organizer in the closet. It was before we even painted the nursery!

I confess to stealing all of these ideas from various books and magazines. The valance was in a child's nursery decorating book (by BG&H) and the idea for the paint was from a Paint Decor magazine. That magazine and Windows and Walls are really fun decorating magazines. The chandalier arose from my coveting these chandeliers sold in a small shop in the Galleria in Edina MN. They had these beautiful Italian chandeliers only the prices were outrageous - $1400 and up. So my husband and I bought a wrought iron one from Lowe's ($69.00) and he spray painted it white. We bought the crystals and the pendalogues off of ebay for $45. Wa la - our very own custom chandelier.

I bought this chair from a local retailer but it is from this manufacturer: http://www.bestchairs.com/bcpublic/index1.jsp. If I had to do it all over again, I would have looked around more because my friend who is expecting in August found an awesome upholstered chair and half that glides from a Homemakers' Furniture store (owned by Nebraska Furniture Mart). They had dozens of fabrics to chose from and I think the cost was less too.

Lampes,

How neat of you to come up with all of those ideas! Could you tell me about the raspberry color that you painted your furniture? I have been looking for a raspberry color to paint our master bathroom. Also, can you tell me about the day bed in the room? Is there a trundle under it, or are there drawers? Our DD is 8 years old and we are considering getting her a smaller bed (she has a queen size right now and it takes up most of her room).

Thanks so much!

The raspberry color was called Lipstick and was a Benjamin and Moore paint that was no longer made and so our Diamond Vogel paint store mixed it to match. I can send you a paint sample that you can take to your local paint store to have mixed. The Daybed is from Ethan Allen. It and the chair were the real splurges in the room. It has a trundle underneath. The only thing I don't like about the trundle is that it is heavy and thus hard for me to pull out and it doesn't pop up. But I thought that when my DD got older it would be fun for sleep overs.

It's the Jamie Daybed in Vanilla. It's an offwhite color or it was painted white and antiqued and thus has an off white color, if that makes sense. The Emma bed is just gorgeous in person and that is offwhite with beautiful soft green, pink accents.

Linda,

Well, what color is your furniture in your living room? I picked out a neutral tan color for my furniture, so I just tried to find a paint color to match. But really, don't be afraid of color at all! Almost every room in my house is a "color," and I love it! It makes my home interesting, and I feel that it makes it more homey.

Hi - I'm a new member -- and a first time mom to be - due 11/17.

Great nursery! You tied everthing together so nicely. I love the colors you used. We're trying to find a green and a soft yellow similar to the ones you used. Do you remember the brand and name of paint you used?

We've tried one green so far and it was too minty and the yellow we chose ended up looking like a lemon. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks.

We just need a few knick-knacks here and there and we'll be done. It was good to hear from you, I've been wondering how you've been doing. Feel free to e-mail me and keep me updated.

Tracy,

Thanks so much! The color I used was Benjamin Moore "Lemonade." At certain times of the day, it does look more yellow than others, and at times, I've thought that I should have gone with a lighter color on the strip. But the paint matches the yellow in the bedding perfectly, so I'm glad we did it! Good luck!

Linda, thanks so much! I'm glad to hear you're doing well. It's getting so close for us, isn't it! I'm scared and excited, all at the same time. Let me know when you get your camera fixed!

Well our nursery is a little more "thrown together" than a lot of peoples, but we've had fun doing it and it has been relatively lower cost. It started out with John Lennon bedding that we got from a friend/neighbor at a garage sale. While it is not my "favorite" bedding, it's cute and got us started!

Other items in the room:
- Morigeau-Lepine natural maple crib
- Sorelle natural changing table
- Target bookcase w/bins
- Pottery Barn Kids sheer curtains w/ties at top
- Target curtain rod & holdbacks
- hand-me-down rocking chair :o) (we bought an upholstered rocker/recliner for our den, also)

I think I've estimated total cost for the room at around $600, not including the upholstered rocker/recliner in the den, including just about everything else but toys. The crib was the single largest expense at a little over $300, but we did get that for quite a deal!

Hi -
I just love your furniture - it looks really similar to what we are considering purchasing. My DH and I are about to order our crib and chair this weekend, and we're looking at a Pali Renee crib and a Dutailer chair just like the one you have. Can you tell me if these are the same ones you bought? They look great.

We're having a tough time deciding on whether to buy a combo dresser or skip it altogether. I would rather buy a regular dresser that isn't strictly for baby, and let him/her grow into as they get older. What manufacturer did you buy your dresser from?

Thanks for answering my questions! Beautiful room!

Well, not 100% completed since the crib isn't together and the bedding hasn't come in yet...but otherwise we are basically done. We have a nursery and bathroom...

Here's our nursery. It's a very small cozy room. The paint is Nob Hill Sage from Benjamin Moore. The furniture is from Morigeau. We still have more artwork for the walls which we will eventually put up when we have time! Enjoy!

Stace(StaceyKim) and Karen(smilequeen),

Love the pics of the nurseries! I was wondering if you could tell me about the bookshelves that are in each of your children's rooms. Stacey, I think that the one you have in Lola's room would be the perfect size for my 8 year old DD's room. Karen, I think yours would be great for my 2 year old DS, especially since his room is smaller than DD's.

Stacey, I don't know if you remember or not, but when you posted some pics in the lounge before Lola was born, you gave me the information about the paint color you used. I have definitely decided to paint the kids' bathroom in that apple green color. I think it will really brighten it up and it's a good compromise for a bathroom that has to function for both a boy, a girl, and as the main bathroom of the house!

Thanks, ladies, for any information about the bookshelves!

Thanks so much for the replies about the bookshelves! It's so hard to go furniture shopping with a 2 year old and an 8 year old! They seem to think it's boring for some reason. LOL!

The nurseries look wonderful and I am sure that Lola and Simon will enjoy them very much.

Hey there...I do remember the name of the color we used in the bathroom...it was called Cadet. We got it from Lowe's...it was either a Waverly or Laura Ashley color, not quite sure, and they mixed it up in their own brand...American Traditions I think?

I got the knobs and switchplate covers from www.mudpuddledesigns.com They turned out great (I used them in his bedroom too) :)

I just finished the nursery! It was difficult picking a cute "unisex" theme, but we found a discontinued Sumersault bedding set on eBay for really cheap ($70 for the set including the lamp shade, diaper stacker and all the bedding). Then, I just took the STAR theme from the bedding and made that the room theme. I didn't have very high hopes for it, but it turned out cuter than I thought it would. :) Enjoy!

We aren't completely finished, as we're awaiting the arrival of our furniture. We have completed the mural.

The bottom half of the wall is chalkboard, hence the trim functions as a chalk holder. The clouds are all painted with an irridescent paint, so with the camera flash it doesn't show up very well.

The artist, Kaleb Loosbrock, is great and resides in Chicago. If anyone is interested in using him I'd be happy to pass along his number.

Wow! You've gotten quite a response on this one. I guess everyone is proud of their nursery! Here are a few pics from my DDs room. My friend and I made all of the window treatments, bedding, etc. and my DH repainted old furniture that was my sisters when she was little. The rocker was my DH's grandparents, so this room is full of sentimental value!

Susan,
Thanks for the link to the glider! It looks like an heirloom piece and is the first glider I've actually liked.

And you know, we hadn't considered built-ins instead of a dresser, etc, but the way our room is laid out (the windows extend close to the floor) it might be a much better use of space. Thanks for the idea!

All the credit goes to my sister and her boyfriend they did an amazing job and in 14 hours straight of working on it no less! It is perfect and DD loved "petting" her animals. FYI - As an expectant mom of twins, I too was looking for a wider glider (it's tough to get 3 of us and a nursing pillow in a regular size). Best Chairs just introduced a chair and a half glider in 2005.

Melanie,

That looks beautiful!

Where did you get that butterfly mobile? I've been looking for something like that as a decoration in my older DD's big girl room!

Now is that closet full of all the girl's clothing you've been stock piling since you found out you were having a girl? Or are you going to say that some of those are DS's clothes too? Come on, tell us the truth now... ;)

It's from Pottery Barn Kids. I only got it a few weeks ago, though I am having trouble finding it on their website now. My friend picked it up at the LA B&M store at The Grove, so you could call and see if they have it. The butterflies are made of balsa wood and it's not the plush/musical nursery one. I can't remember the exact cost...under $50.

heehee...My Mom & I have been shopping for 4 months now, plus I got some hand-me-downs from a couple of people. It is quite jammed, though, isn't it? I feel guilty when I see Ds' almost-empty closet but then I remind myself that those clothes are up to size 12 months and his are all for right now. She will be using some of his onesies and PJs, but those are in the jam-packed drawers. LOL.

>I think we're going to end up with drapes over Payton's
>closet-- the doors just get in my way!

I was thinking of doing that as well, but then I was thinking about when baby starts crawling and pulling herself up, that she might pull on them. If we still don't have doors when she's older then I would probably do that as well. My mom did it once and it looked quite nice.

It was from an unfinished furniture store and then Dh painted it white. It also came in a shorter version. I love the wainscoting on it and that the shelves are fixed. It has legs that we can attach to raise it up a bit more eventually, but for now I wanted it flat on the ground.

Hey girls! Everything is looking good! I'm the one with the yellow and pale pink nursery with the stars theme a few pages back.

I'm writing to make sure that Marcy got my email. Marcy, I got the netting over my crib as a hand-me-down. I think my cousin got it at Bed Bath and Beyond. We kept it up until Hailey turned around 9 months, when she was able to get up on her knees in the crib. Now, at 10 months old, she can stand completely up. I think they're great to have and so beautiful, but try not to spend a whole lot of money on one since they are used for such a short amount of time.

However, when she gets a little older and won't mess with it, it can always be used over her bed once again.

I hope this helps!

Beth

It was Behr from Home Depot, but I'm not sure on the names. We matched it to our cornice fabric. My rule of thumb is to pick a color I like, then go 2 shades lighter (unless I'm going for a dark dark color).

What a beautiful room!! You must have spent alot of time on it. I know its difficult picking out the paint color, as we spent many hours debating which color to choose for our first child. When the second came around, for some reason, she got stuck with whatever was already painted on the wall. LOL

I just saw these knobs (or something very similar) at a local baby store in my area this weekend. I thought it was a Kids Line display, but I don't see the stars and moons on their website. Here's the name and phone number of the store if you want to call them to see what brand they are: Cribs 2 Teens (805) 527-4488 (they're in CA).

This nursery is so beautiful! I have a similar display with the clothing and I just love it! Can you tell us where you got some of the things (or brands) like the bedding, letters (and are those silver metal), and the chandelier with decorative ceiling piece. I would love to hear the brands and/or where you got them. So beautiful!! Beautiful name too!!

LexyLou
10-18-2005, 11:18 PM
Thank you. A lot of the stuff was made by family members and friends but the bedding is Glenna Jean "Isabella". It looks really tacky online and it almost made me not get it but luckily I saw it in person and knew how beautiful it was.

The letters are from www.woodlandmanufacturing.com . I got the 8 inch curlz 1/8 inch thick and I painted them with the same green paint I used on the bottom part of the wall.

The chandelier was restored by a friend's mom. I bought the fabric on ebay and it's the exact same toile on the bedding and she used that to make the shades but the rest was just her finding a vintage chandelier and painting it and adding the crystals.

The shelf with the clothes is from www.landofnod.com . My mom knitted the pink sweater and beret.

HTH. Thanks for the compliments!

My mom was visiting and trying to help me finish up the room. We got a white wreath hanger from the wedding dept. at hobby lobby. We then bought tiny fabric roses from the fabric dept so she hot glue gunned the roses to the hanger. Then she spray painted an infant acrylic hanger white and added the bow...since we never found a satin or wood hanger. It was all very easy and inexpensive too.

I saw a posting here about these bugs. I love them! They sway and rotate when the ceiling fan, heat, or central air is on.

Thanks!

I ordered the hanging butterflies, dragonflies, and bee from www.butterflycraze.com. (My thanks to the person who posted about butterflycraze.com on this board!) It took several weeks to get my order, but I was happy with the bugs when they arrived. Similar bugs are available from several sellers on e-bay.

The alphabet cards are from Land of Nod. I've seen them at on-line stores as well, but now I can't remember where.

The bookcase is made by Childcraft. It can be special ordered from USA Baby or Baby Depot, but it takes 6-8 weeks to get it. I found it online at www.dreamtimebaby.com for a better price and I got it in less than two weeks. One of the reasons we picked this bookcase is that the roof part detaches. When our daughter decides she's too old for a dollhouse bookcase, we can remove the top and she'll have a plain cubby bookcase. It's also larger and sturdier than the other dollhouse bookcases we looked at.

Happy decorating!
