Any reason NOT to use flannel sheets/pillowcases in the summer? I mean, DS would lay on TOP of them, not under/in them.

I don't know if it would be the same with flannel sheets, but I had to take off the cotton jersey LE sheets I was using (t-shirt type material) and put on some standard percale cotton ones because the jersey was making DD sweat like crazy. She doesn't sweat nearly as much on the percale ones. (Like you said, she was also on top and not under them.) Maybe some fabrics like flannel and jersey just don't let the heat escape as much?

You're kidding, really? Maybe I should just try it and see...

I once read somewhere that flannel wicks away moisture in hot weather. I sleep in flannel sheets year round because I think they are comfy. I only have flannel sheets for the baby and she seems fine on them. I think my sister does the same for hers.

I kept the flannel ones on Declan's crib. Haven't noticed a problem with sweating.
