Here I go posting yet again about Jack's room-to-be (the last post was maybe a month ago in the Lounge). I got tons of great suggestions. Here's what I'm thinking now:

Music-themed room for music-loving preschooler. I want it to be a "big boy room" but not "teenage" looking (which would be easy to fall into with this theme).

I found this guitar bedding from Garnet Hill (thanks to Trish--brigmaman). It was actually not in their current catalog, but the rep I talked to said that it was so popular that they were bringing it back.

I'd like to do a mural on one wall that's child-like and fun but not babyish. This is the cover a cute children's book called "The Penguin Quartet". The story is about 4 penguin dads left on egg-sitting duty who decide to pack up their eggs and take a trip to New York to play jazz. It's really funny. What do you think?

I'm also, at this point, thinking about doing a border (about 1/3 of the way up) that's actually a musical staff. What about the idea of using magnetic paint for the white (light) background and the black staff lines? Then, we can buy magnetic musical notes and actually make tunes on the wall? I'm wondering if it might look cute to paint a color under the staff (maybe a green that coordinates with the green accent color in the guitar bedding--although I don't love that green). What do you think? Is that going to be too busy?

I'm also debating whether I should try this myself or hire a muralist. I've never even painted a wall before. I am pretty detail-oriented and careful. But artistic? Not really.

Thanks again for indulging me. I know Jack will love this room and it will help him with the move/transition to have a fun project.
