Hi. We're ordering nursery furniture for our baby daughter (due this summer) and I'd love some help from people who have done this already. We're going w/a white crib and furniture, but are confused about what to do for a glider. I definitely think white wood would look better in the nursery for now, but we plan on having another baby in the next couple of years and we think a more natural wood would be easier to move into another nursery or another room in the house (color-wise). I'd just love to hear opinions from others before we make a mistake, as well as from anyone who has white furniture but a more natural wood color for a glider. Thanks.

I have a natural wood crib, a white chest of drawers and a rocker w/ medium-stained wood rockers. I think it all works pretty well, but I wasn't going for a matching look.

Here's a photo of it while it was in progress.

We have a natural crib, a green dresser, and a white glider with pale green cushions. It doesn't bother me that they aren't all the same. I personally think our white/green glider will look good in a bedroom someday (and it was in our bedroom for a while and looked fine). And I sort of like that our nursery isn't all matchy. (But this is coming from someone whose nursery has a color [light green & light blue] theme instead of a particular animal or object or some other theme/look - we definitely went the discount route and just picked up things we liked as we found them).

We went with a white crib, but a natural wood dresser/hutch and glider because we felt the natural wood would transition into other settings better than white later on. As expensive as good quality furniture is currently, I think it's better to go with what will make you happy in the long run vs. just making a pretty nursery for a year or two. (Not that mixing white and natural woods can't be pretty too ;) )

hi i have cream colored furniture and a natural glider (picked it so it could go in other rooms later but now i'm not so sure i'd really like it in other rooms). i've thought about it and if i could do it over i'd get a fully upholstered rocker/glider that have no wood (like the one below). they would definitely blend in better with the rest of the house in the long run even if more expensive now.

if you really want a wooden glider then i think the cushion fabric is important too that it blends with the other stuff in the room.
