Iam looking for good blankets(not receiving blankets) for my baby due in May.I live in North Carolina and it gets pretty warm here during summer, but I would be moving to New Jersey in two months. What type of blankets should I buy? Which are the good ones in the lightweigt as well as heavy category?

Thanks

I liked the blankets from Gymboree. They're a good size and very soft!

Land's End makes a wonderful cotton lace blanket that would be perfect for the summer. I got it when DS was a newborn, and will be still using it this summer (his third). Here's a link to one of the patterns:

Otherwise, Gymboree and Gap make great knit double layered blankets that are *very* nice as a midweight. I like fleece for cooler weather. There's one I made myself (just doubled up some 100 weight fleece and blanket stitched around); DS also has one from Gymboree, which has held up well. Lands End fleece blankets are very nice, too.

We live in NJ and our son was born in May. We used a Chenille 525 blanket a lot. It was just the right weight and so soft. I think I got it at Neimans. Also loved a Gymboree blanket we got as a gift. It was a great size and good weight. We also got a Little Giraffe chenille blanket as a gift which was perfect for him when he was in his carrier and now has become his blankie. They also make them in a larger size, but the little one is a perfect size.

Good luck.
