A great way to save money, and keep your infant safer in an infant car seat (does not apply to infants in convertable car seats) is to buy a "cozy bundler". The "bundler" gets threaded through the car seat straps on the bottom and has a section that zippers on top (no blankets falling off). By using this, we avoided over dressing our baby in fleeces and snowsuits even during the really cold winter in Chicago. We also found out from a car seat "fit expert" that bundling baby under the car seat straps greatly reduces the safty of the infant car seat. All through the winter we put our baby into her car seat in the house (before going to the car) in regular indoor clothes. If it was very cold we would throw an extra blanket into the bundler. She was always very toasty warm. Also, when we went into stores, it was very easy to unbundle, just unzip the cover - no overheated baby. The "cozy bundler" runs about $25 and is perfect if you drive most places and if you attach your infant seat to your stroller. A big savings over the more expensive snowsuits that need to be replaced as the baby outgrows them. We returned all of the snowsuits that we received as gifts.
