I need some help. Nyah's going to be a flower girl at a year old. Anyone know where to get an affordable, quality flower girl dress for an her size - 12M? Most start at size 2. TIA.

I would try Burlington Coat Factory if you have one nearby. My DS was just the ring bearer in my brother's wedding and I got him his outfit there, and I think it was around $25.

Check at BRU. They have their spring/Easter stuff out already here and I saw some really adorable dressy-dresses there. You might also want to try a department store like Nordstrom or Lord & Taylor.

I would also try Jordan Marie (there's one in Tysons) and also BuyBuyBaby. They have some gorgeous things at BBB from some of the European designers.

I don't know about affordable, but Wooden Soldier has gorgeous dresses and would probably start having Easter ones now. They have a lot for 1 year olds.
For cheap stuff, David's Bridal carries flower girl dresses.

I just want to second that you are shopping at the right time of year b/c all of the Easter dresses are probably coming out soon. A "Flower Girl" dress will cost you a bundle, but an Easter dress which looks the same shouldn't.

Try Nordstrom's too. I bought one for DD for my brother's wedding (she was not quite 12m at the time). Also, since the wedding was in June, I was able to get a beautiful dress off the sales rack after Easter. Good luck!

I was just in Buy Buy Baby and they do have some beautiful fancy dresses there. Also, I've heard (though never looked) that Daffy's carries the European baby lines as well, if you have one near you.

You might even want to consider a consignment shop like Children's Orchard. Our local one is having a spring dress up/Easter sale on February 22. Often, the fancy dresses at shops like this have never been worn or worn only once, and you pay a heck of a lot less!

Ladies - Thanks for all of the responses. I didn't want to trek all over the DC area if possible to try and find a dress. The problem is Nyah is almost a year but she's barely 16lbs - very small. I looked on ebay and found some great dresses for $29 but they were purchased using BIN and the store is sold out. If I went with her sizes, Nyah would be like a 6M size. I doubt I can find a dress in the stores to fit her. I called Buy Buy Baby and they said their dresses start at size 2. I called my local Nordstoms (Pentagon City) and they don't carry formal dresses and no Easter dresses out yet. I do intend to check the department stores for Easter dresses (Hechts, JCPenny) and I'll also run to Burlington as it is not far from home. Shannon - I did get the catalog from Wooden Soldier but everything I liked was too big for Nyah. I saw on David's Bridal website that they're sizes start at 2. I'd like to find an affordable easter dress but do they have them in white? I just think they'll be all different colors. I don't know who would have Easter dresses out now but I'll look. Do you think BRU would have anything? Rachel - There is a Daffy's at Potomac Mills but don't want to trek there if they don't have her size. Colleen - I'm not familiar with a Children's Orchard. Beth - I'm not a frequenter of Tysons. Do you think Jordan Marie would have Nyah's size?

This is what I'm looking at online. Let me know what you think. I appreciate it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2804501195 - currently sold out; nice and great for price

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2804527287&category=15582 - still available; again nice and great for the price

http://www.girlsdresses.com/Second_Edition/flower_girl_dresses_page_1.htm - I love style 5056 (simple and not too pouffy) but it starts at size 2 so then I'd go for style 5029; nicer and not bad for the price

http://dressuptyme.com/flower_girl/flower_girl.htm - style 1002-1; nice and great for price

http://www.98dolly.com/rosebud_white.html - ok but maybe be too pouffy

http://www.boomerskids.com/ivcol.html - satin and tulle party dress in white no sleeves; I really like and is a bit more but probably worth it? I like it because it's short - the others are long and Nyah is short so like mommy, I think a short dress would look good being short. The other dresses I like too but they start at size 2.

Hi,

My daughter was a flower girl last September, she was a small 15 months. I purchased the dress you mentioned (style 5029) at flowergirldresses.com. The dress looks much better on than in the picture, everyone loved it! There is nice detailing around the waistline and a tie in the back.
This company was a pleasure to deal with. If the dress does not fit correctly they will send you an alternate size. Also, they were extremely prompt at shipping.

I purchased ankle socks and a hair barrette at Jordan Marie.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Jordan Marie definitely has dresses in that style in her size. If you are coming all the way to Virgina :) you may want to try Fair Oaks Mall where there is a Strasbourg Childrens store. It has GORGEOUS clothes, definitely in her size.

But I really would try BuyBuyBaby. I was just there and they have gorgeous spring-y formal looking (at least to me) dresses in her size.

I just found a link to the Strasburg Children website:

DEIS - Thanks for that info. I may get that 5029. I do like it. I will probably put her in the white with bows Robeez shoes.

Beth - I looked at the Strasborg link and like the dresses but am not willing to pay $150 for a dress Nyah will only wear once. I'd really like to spend no more than $65. Do you know if Jordan Marie would be just ask pricey (I would think yes since it's at Tyson's)? I may take a trek up to Buy Buy Baby since I haven't been in awhile. I appreciate the info.

So I'm down to the following three dresses:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3263&item=2609451094 - nice and very good price

http://www.girlsdresses.com/Second_Edition/flower_girl_dresses_page_1.htm - style 5029; nicer and not bad for the price

http://www.boomerskids.com/sattulpardre1.html - I really like and is a bit more but probably worth it? I like it because it's short - the others are long and Nyah is short so like mommy, I think a short dress would look good being short. The other dresses I like too but they start at size 2.

I will still look around this weekend. Thanks for all your help - it's much appreciated.

Belinda:

Just to let you know, being a former employee of the management at Tysons, Jordan Marie is expensive - especially for a dress that Nyah will probably only wear once. You'll probably want to save yourself a trip and get something from one of the sites above and get accessories closer to home.

Good Luck!

Is the bride wearing white or ivory? I would dress Nyah in the same color as the bride - if that helps you narrow things down a bit!

Sonia - Thanks, I figured it'd be expensive at Tyson's. I just want to be practical for a one time use of a flower girl dress. $150 is almost as much as my brides maid dress.

Lori - She is wearing white and all the dresses I'm trying to pick between are white. I'm going to go ahead and get the dress off ebay and if it doesn't work out, I'll relist. Then I'll debate on the other 2 and see what I found out and about this weekend.

Thanks again,

Belinda, sorry - I thought that a couple of them were ivory! In that case, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. They are all very pretty, and she only needs to wear it for a few hours!
