We already have been double-knotting DS's sneakers, and he still unties them. Any ideas? My MIL says she remembers some sort of little device from when DH was young. Is this still around, and is it a choking hazard?

I have no personal experience with this (but knowing my DS I will have the same experience soon. :)) However, how about tying a regular knot first and then tying the bow (or double tying it)? He surely can't untie that all the way.

They had those little things at Stride Rite. However all of the shoelaces wouldn't fit in it! So they gave me a thinner shoelace which was so short I could hardly tie it...

We use velcro :-). I only buy velcro shoes/sneakers.

Dd can undo it, but she likes the velcro so much she leaves her shoes on! And they are SOOOO much easier to get on and off.

I agree completely. My theory is: the child will get the shoes off if they really want to get them off. However if the shoes are easy to get back on then you're on even ground for the battle. :-)
