We will be attending a Christening for Tom's cousins in England this summer and I am looking to buy him a dressy outfit. Can anybody suggest brands or websites?

I looked at Janie and Jack but didn't find anything. I did see the cutest Hawaiian shirt, though, which is SO darling, I might order it anyway! Here's the link:

TIA!!

There's always www.houseofhattenoutlet.com

They've got some cute stuff that's really reasonably priced. I have about 4 shortall outfits from them that I will rotate between for church every Sunday morning through the summer.

Lisa,

If you can wait till you get to England (assuming you will be near London), there are FANTASTIC places to shop for dressy clothing (actually, all kids clothing :-). I'd be happy to send you a list.

Otherwise, here are a few suggestions - FYI - for "dressy", I don't personally love smocking so if that's what you're looking for, then this may not help, but if you prefer more grown up clothes in little sizes (love the hawaiian shirt), then perhaps these will be of interest.

Baby Graziella and Simonetta are 2 Italian lines that make beautiful things - carried at upscale smaller boutiques. And Baby Burberry is always gorgeous and very English! Given the current exchange rate, it is actually cheaper to buy Burberry in the US. And Ralph Lauren is always classy and classic (and often on sale at Bloomingdales) - probably very appropriate to wear to a christening (I've never been to one as all of our friends are jewish so I have no idea what people wear - I'm just equating it to a bris).

http://www.europeanbaby.com has some really nice stuff - not cheap, but there are some sales

http://www.tuesdayschild.com - very fashionable dressy outfits - again, not cheap, but really beautiful and great quality

http://www.thekidswindow.com - this is more of a wide range of stuff - hit or miss - kind of like TJMaxx or Loehmanns, for kids, online - good brands sometimes (Jean Bourget, Marese, Diesel, etc) and you may get lucky and find something

Good luck and happy shopping.

Lisa,

Thanks - we arrive on a Thursday and the Christening is on Sunday so we won't have time to shop beforehand. But please do send me a list of shops in or around London. We will be staying in both Ashtead and Devon, but will take a couple of day trips to London. My MIL is planning to take me to a Petit Bateau shop (somewhere near Ashtead) and I can't wait!

I'll check out the sites everyone sent this afternoon - thanks to everyone!

Ok, I'll bite!! Where in Old england (Rachel beat me to the question!). With Ryan Air we can fly from Berlin to London for under 30 Euro each way (in fact, sometimes for as low as 10 if they're running a special).

And when? Let's see if we can work something out!!

ohhhh la la, petite bateau!!!

I went to one of their stores last week. Outrageous prices---really ridiculous imo, but oh so cute and sweet. Definately a great gift on someone else's wallet!

That's what I'm hoping - since my MIL is taking me, she might just tell me to pick out an outfit for Tom as a gift from her! When Simon and I went to London last year, she did just that!!

Strasburg Children also has dressy clothes. Here's a link to the website: http://www.strasburgchildren.com/index.html The clothes are fairly pricey but if there's a store location near you, you can find more reasonable prices on the sale rack.
