I love buying cute things for my little boy, but it seems like all I find are overalls or sleepers? I can't seem to find many outfits for everyday wear. What do/did you all dress your little boys in at 4 1/2 months?????

Edited to add: I don't like overalls because they ride up on him... since he is not standing yet the straps are always up by his ears! He just does not look comfortable!

Yes, it is the great dilemma of having a boy! In the summer I really liked the one piece cotton outfits (rompers?). They just seemed nice and comfy and I thought they looked cute. Besides that, usually just shorts and t-shirts or polos, or creepers - the "dressy" onsies.

My favorite stores to shop in for boys are Gap, Old Navy and Gymboree.

I have to say, I love overalls! I hate the shirt riding up/ bare belly look, and overalls eliminate that. The best-fitting overalls DS has are from Janie & Jack. DS has very long legs, and even the Baby Gap ones fall short.

Other options: playsuits. Landsend has a bunch on sale right now. I got some from there, as well Baby Gap and Old Navy. Carter's has some cute ones too - summer ones, that are short. This is one he has (in green) from Lands End:

Babystyle has some sleeveless playsuits that could give the overall effect with a shirt underneath, but eliminate the straps riding up problem. I also have a bunch of 2 piece outfits - pants with shirts from various places - mostly hand-me-downs. But again, check out Lands End and Osh Kosh.

But I do agree with you - it's really hard finding cute stuff for boys!

Are you looking for two piece outfits? I had a bunch that we never wore (hated the riding up, too) but unfortunately they are all heavy winter fabrics.

I personally like overalls and one-piece outfits because they make Colin look like the baby that he still is. I get most of his clothes from Baby Gap, Old Navy, OshKosh and Carter's.

Nita-

I just went to order something from Land's End based on your link and somehow ended up in your shopping bag!

That explains it! :)Weird!

I just deleted that item, and completed my order. I'm buying for NEXT summer - those prices are just too good to pass up!

I love sleepers! Andrew wore sleepers for the first 6 months with an occasional romper or two (but I hate having to find/keep on socks). Now that it is summer and he has passed the sunscreen deadline he is wearing the shorts rompers. I found a ton of cute ones at the Land's End Overstocks and The Children's Place.

At 4.5 months, we dressed DS in overalls. We still do. He has such a small waist, most pants and shorts don't stay up and I don't like seeing the diaper when the shirt rides up. Gymboree has some cute 1-piece rompers, both in short and long pants, for example:

The Gymboree shirts are also pretty nice and longer than some to help alleviate the riding up problem a little, for example:

Also, Talbots has cute basic shorts with elastic waistbands (and they're on sale now :)): http://www.talbots.com/talbotsonline/item.asp?item=P112387&h=K&BID=S2003171163744485B79D8E3214F96AEF379&pfid=277&a=V

I also really like the Talbots onesies. They are really soft and made well (and they are on sale too). We mostly have the T-shirt style but have one of the polo ones too.

I also like the Carter's shorts rompers. You can get these at most places that carry Carter's, but the cheapest place I've found is Sam's Club where you can get 2 for $10.

I've always liked overalls but that riding up thing is annoying. I almost never used 2 piece (like shorts & shirt) outfits until my boys were walking because the shirts ride up and the shorts pull the diapers down! One pieces are the way to go in my opinion. My very most favorites are the ones from Lands' End. They are cute, soft, boyish, wash beautifully, and last forever! Mine easily made it through two boys and now my nephew is wearing them. My second favorite are the john-john type outfits...usually searsucker or other light-weight cotton, sleeveless, and button at the shoulders, can be worn with or without a shirt underneath. A brand that you regularly see these in is Samsara which is found at JCPenney's and similar stores.

I like to put Brett in the one piece cotton rompers or a dressy onesie and some cotton shorts, or just the onesie. I have tons of cute rompers and onesies from penney's, old navy and baby gap. I love baby gap onesies and shorts, especially. These are easy and eliminate the problem of a shirt riding up.

I do like short-alls too but many of them don't fit Brett well and end up with the front flap up in his face.

I agree w/ the overalls -- I don't think they make sense until the wee ones are walking.

Now that it's summer, I have stocked up on rompers -- short-sleeved, short-pant 1-piece rompers. They're easy to put on, take off and change diapers in.

Check out the sale at Sears - I got some cute Lands End rompers on sale - $5.99 instead of $19.50 (the polo shirt type). They also had cute t-shirt style ones.

Those are the ones that I LOVE! You'll want him to wear them every day! :-)
