I'm thinking about buying DS a pair of Robeez sandals for the summer. He's pulling up to a stand and starting to cruise, so walking is just around the corner. I like the idea of his little feet being covered but still totally flexible. So... the question is, what do you like for a little boy? These are the two top choices:
NAVY SANDAL:
http://www.robeez.com/product_DynamicMVA.asp?Spacer=&PriceCat=2&SID=P3U5HT7XX26J9G60VK461TQU7F0J48&StartID=32&PF_ID=Navy+Sandal&deptID=10

or

WHITE STARS:
http://www.robeez.com/product_DynamicMVA.asp?Spacer=&PriceCat=2&SID=P3U5HT7XX26J9G60VK461TQU7F0J48&StartID=32&PF_ID=White+Summer+Stars&deptID=10

I want to be sure that his feet get good ventilation, and I want the sandals to work with a variety of outfits. Do you think the white stars are too girly? will they get dirty too easily? The blue are certainly more masculine, but a little less cute, and navy doesn't always work with all shades of blue.

OPINIONS, please!!

And... are there any sales out there on Robeez that anyone knows of?

Thanks in advance!

They are both so cute. I don't have any Robeez so I don't know how the white holds up with wear and tear.

I also some Stride Rite Prewalkers at Nordstrom today that I thought were cute too. More sandal-y than Robeez.

I haven't bought ANY shoes yet, so really I don't know that much about what is better. I'll leave that to mamas of walkers :)

Hi Sarah,
My DS has a couple pairs of Robeez and I love them. Once he started crawling he slid all around in socks, but the Robeez really gave him good traction and helped him crawl better. One thing I have heard about the sandals is that sometimes their toes stick out the little vent holes, so I haven't bought a pair yet. One of the pairs of Robeez we have are tan with a dog on it, and they get pretty dirty when he is crawling around in public areas so you would probably have that problem with the white ones. The good thing is that they can be machine washed so they are very easy to clean. I have washed mine twice(about once a month) and they are still in great shape, but I don't know if you would want to wash them on a regular basis. Our other pair is blue with a dolfin and it has a black sole and they don't show the dirt at all. What do you think about the brown sandals? They would go with a lot and not show the dirt either. Hope this helps.

I didn't care for the Robeez sandals. Colin's toes would pop out through the holes since he was still growing into his size - if Dylan is at the top end of a size, that won't be a problem.

I purchase Bobux sandals for DS with the discount code that a BBB member shared a few weeks ago. They are very similar to Robeez but the slits on the shoe are smaller and some are star shaped. DS’s toes do not stick out of them at all. I also have Robeez but no sandal style ones. I would get soft-shoes that have a dark sole our lion Robeez show a lot of dirt on the bottom. I don’t know if Bobux are machine washable. I purchased the royal blue multi and brown ones and they are sooo cute! I also think the ankle elastic on Bobux is a little looser and I like that, DS has chubby ankles. With shipping two pairs were around $40 much better than Robeez. Robeez are also sold on ebay but the sandal style ones are very popular right now and are not much cheaper than ordering direct from Canada.

Here is a link to the original posting for the discount code:

I did have the white stars for ds a couple summers ago...the sandal style didn't exist then.

They went fine and he was fully walking and wore them outside alot, they did wash well but i would have liked navy just couldn't find it ;)

The white color did tend not too stay as "new" looking as say the other colors we;ve had...blues, reds, tans etc.

I have noticed their are other brands of sandal types...shoos shoos{i think that is the name LOL} bobux etc

GL! :)
ETA: here is one type not sure if it's the right size range but..

My DD has had the navy Robeez sandals since she started pulling up (getting close to a year ago now). They have been a staple in her wardrobe since then.

I think they are much cooler than the stars version. We never had a problem with her toes sticking out through the sandals though. And in the winter she wore them with socks. They wash great, and a couple of times when the toes seemed a little scuffed, I put navy polish on them and they looked brand new.

DD has the pink version of the navy sandals. They are the only shoes she wears at the moment and she's just started walking properly this week(like most of the time rather than crawling). Theyve worked out really well except theyre very dirty, she's been outside in them though, so I wish I'd bought blue. We bought these the next size up (12-18M) so they're big at the moment and I've never had a problem with her toe coming through

You guys are great. Thanks so much for the info, advice, and link to the discount info.

I'm concerned about the toes popping through because he will be at the bottom of the size (he's almost out of 6-12 mo, so I think I need to buy 12-18 mo). I may check out the bobux instead... don't know. I went to Nordstrom today hoping to see them IRL, but they didn't carry any of the sandal varieties.

Thanks again for all your help!!

How about the brown sandals? Brown seems to go with more outfits than navy would.

Well... I took advantage of the coupon code Michelle listed for Bobux and ordered these:
http://bobuxusa.zoovy.com/product/CO7

I also got a pair of the suede football shoes (on sale!) for this fall and some KidzBanz sunglasses. I hope the KidzBanz work--Dylan's head was just measured as 17 inches, and apparently the starting point for KidzBanz is 17.5 inches, BabyBanz cut off at 17 in. Looking forward to recieving the shipment!

Thanks again for the suggestions!

I think you made a great choice!

I have not tried the babybanz or kidsbanz but I remember older posts saying that the baby ones are very small and outgrown quickly.

I thought shipping was pretty quick for USPS and received my package in about 3 days. We wear the bobux everyday now and I like them just as much as Robeez.

I hope we do get them quickly. I just showed DH my choice and he was like "white? for a boy? I don't know about that." >sigh< I'll have to talk up how terribly masculine they are once I get them!

I have loved our Robeez, so I hope we love the bobux too. I was really happy with the price! Thanks again!
