I was thinking of getting this Hanna Romper (YA27922 if my link or picture thing doesn't work - it's my first one) for the wedding. Do you think it's dressy enough? I don't think babies need to be too dressed up, but I'm not taking him in his overalls either!

This would be my very first Hanna item! Chicagoland mom's - do they have this in the Woodfield store?

If you think it's too casual, any reco's on something? I don't want to spend a ton on an outfit he won't wear too much.

TIA!

Lynn, I know they had the fuschia one at Woodfield, but not sure about the aqua or navy one. I would call and ask. We have a pear gingham seersucker romper from a few years back and I love the material (very lightweight and perfect for hot days).

IMO for a girl, the fuschia romper would not be fancy enough for a wedding unless it was really casual (e.g. reception outside). But I am not a mom of a boy, so maybe this would be appropriate. Hopefully some moms of boys will have advice for you.

I do remember there was a thread w/in the last few months where I believe this romper was being discussed as to whether it was boyish enough or not (the peter pan collar and gingham were the issues).

Your very first Hanna? You definitely have some willpower! But be warned - once you start, it is very hard to stop acquiring them!

Thanks Pam, I found the thread you mentioned. I hadn't thought about it being too girly. Hmmm ... maybe I'll keep looking.

Also, I have "willpower" because MIL buys DS way too many clothes. I just can't justify the spend on more clothes since I just left my job to be a SAHM. I told her that I get to buy the 'special' outfits for weddings and holidays. I wonder if she'll listen to me. Doesn't matter, he won't wear them then. ok. end of mini vent!

I think an outfit like that would be fine, but I too think it's a bit girly. What about some khaki colored dress shorts and a button up shirt? You could even wear a tee under the shirt and leave the shirt open. Check out gymboree b/c they have lots of cute plaid or patterned shirts and some cargo shorts. I think for a small baby that is dressy enough. GL

Coming from someone who is pretty liberal when dressing her Ds, I would say it's a bit too feminine b/c of the rounded collar on top of gingham. =( Try www.houseofhattenoutlet.com

I think it is cute. If you are looking for something a bit more fancy I saw these cute seersucker pants at JanieandJack.com for $12.99 and a matching jacket for $19.99.

Another option could be the seersucker pants, a shirt(12.99) and/or vest (12.99).

I think that thread was started by me! Anyway, we did wind up buying the navy romper for DS for his 6 month pics and both DH and I love it. I don't think it is too casual for a wedding unless the wedding is a very formal evening wedding.

When I got married I had a fairly formal late afternoon wedding and my best friend just brought her 3 month old in a sleeper. Didn't bother me one bit. The baby I am sure was very comfy :)

Thanks for all of the replies. I'll check out Janie & Jack online - he has two outfits from them right now and they are cute! Not dressy at all though. I'll have to take some pics for the J&J thread!

I'm sure the bride (& groom) wouldn't care what I put him in, really. It's just that since I have only special events to buy clothes for (see my MIL vent above), it's my chance to have some fun!

For a 6 month old I think it is absolutely fine, unless it is a black tie wedding! It's funny, because it looks boyish enough to me that I wouldn't have DD wear it (she has short hair, so if she's not wearing pink or purple I get asked!). It looks comfy and like something you could use many times!!

I give it a thumbs up!!!

I think it is perfect for a wedding.
