View Full Version : ICK! I do NOT like ANY of the Gymbo boy lines ... including layette!!

blah .... sure, a few pieces were SORTA cute, but nothing struck me as MUST HAVE, ya know? I'll reserve my final opinion for when I see stuff IRL, but so far, nothing I see, I must have. The layette line is sorta cute, and Holden still fits into 18-24months, but since he doesn't have much time left in 18-24months, nothing is really must have at all.

Babystyle and boutique brands, here I come!

I really like a couple of the hedgehog pieces in layette, but agree that the boys' line is pretty bad.

I do not like the boys line at all!! I think the colors just don't look good together. I don't like grey and black for my baby, I like nice colors for him. But not light blue and orange together, that just looks weird to me. If they came out with Outdoor Excursion this year I would have spent an obscene amount of money on it.
There are a few pieces of the hedgehog stuff that I might get if it is cute in person. But if Hanna has some cute stuff they will be getting my money.

I posted about this a few down. For once, I actually like some of the stuff. I think it's because it's sporty. I like the sporty look. I listed a bunch of stuff that I like, but I definitely won't get it all or get too much.

I don't like it either. The layette line is pretty cute but the boys line is yuck IMO. I don't see us buying any of it and I usually get at least one or two pieces. Not this time!

I agree in that the boys' clothes don't do much for me either, but there is an outfit I am thinking about getting for this boy I am about to have.

My question is whether I should get it in 0-3 months size, or wait until 6-9 months size. I have 2 'outfits' in 0-3m and they are both overalls. One is a dino Gymbo one from 5 years ago, and the other is new from Naartjie. I've never really bought outfits before for when they are tiny, nor has anyone else, therefore we have bunches of clothes in size 3-6 months. I don't have as much in 6-9m, but I do have the jr cowboy cords and sweater (and hat and boots), plus wiggle pants and jeepers from HA that are all brand new. I have almost nothing in 9-12m becuase apparently my kids skipped over that size, or something, but the thing is, I think the weather would be too warm by the time my my kid would grown into it, if he grows like his brothers.

So anyhow, should I buy that outfit in 0-3m, and use it right away (more or less), or be good and get 6-9m? Oh and I'll say that I have a pair of jeans and a wine colored shirt from Gymbo (again 5 yrs old) in 3-6m, and it is my favorite outfit of any I have ever owned. I know that little jeans and cords are not practical, but hey, if my neighbor can put dresses on her newborn, I can do cords, right? 90% of the time my babies dress like babies, but the tiny pants and long sleeved shirts totally melt me.

Oh, also I'd do better to buy not on sale during COF with gymbucks than I would to wait for stuff to go on sale, right?

-Sarah (who will probably be in labor for COF anyway, lol)

LOL, I actually like some stuff for the first time in ages. The hedgehog sweater is cute and different (though I agree that they need some colors other than blasted olive and orange). And I really like the Fifth fleet. Will be watching for sales for next year (already stocked up for this year.)

I actually like some of the hedgehog stuff, even if the colors are muted, which is not usually my cup of tea for little ones. I'm going to have to try some of the pieces on DS to see how the colors look on him. The older boys stuff is not really my taste, so I am glad Gymbo has started making the layette lines available in 18-24.

Will have to hit COF to check out the stuff in person. Of course, mh Hanna and Oshkosh orders are on the way, and I am still decising on some pieces from babystyle. If only I could figure out how to get babystyle to keep things in my cart after I log off the site! That is so frustrating!

See, it's not so much that I don't like the layette line, but it's not SOO cute, that I MUST have it, since Holden is probably going to outgrow the 18-24month size sometime this winter.

Though like I said, I may change my mind when I see the line in person. I won't be buying anything from baby boy or kid boy .. I just do NOT like those colors (reminds me too much of skater pup actually :P)

I actually really like the Walk in the Wood line. Not as thrilled about the other line, but I'll plan to get quite a bit of the Walk in the Wood. I love orange on my son!

Some of the Hedgehog stuff is cute, but nothing is a must-have for me. I can't wait to see what happens when they get the new boys designer I keep hearing roumors about (maybe they'll hire a French designer LOL). I'm sticking to French/boutique boys clothing for now.

Circle of friends starts on Friday, or so I am told. Maybe I will run into you at the Fashion Scare mall over the weekend? Ha!

OT for a moment -

Jerilyn, when you say "Fashion Scare" mall, you aren't by any chance referring to Fashion Square in Charlottesville, are you? My DH and I went to law school at UVA! :)

The one and only! It seems there are a few Charlottesvilleans on the boards. :)

The Thin Air line is OK but nothing really strikes me as a must buy. It's just as well because I really stocked up on Jack's Garage!

Have to agree...I really, really, really, really (can you tell how much yet?) liked the Jack's Garage line, and spent 2 Gymbucks at redemption on it.

sigh...back to their standard ol' boring stuff again...

Waiting for the Jack's Garage stuff to go to 40% off when this new Gymbuck earning period is over so I can redeem even more Gymbucks on it...LOL

OT for Jerilyn:

Ahh, Fashion Square - Quite the shopping mecca! :)

We're coming up on the time of year when I really miss Charlottesville - It's so beautiful in the fall! We're actually trying to plan a trip out there soon - There are so many Charlottesvillle restaurants that we love! We miss them!

Cville is a great place. Of course, DH and I have not been to many of the best restaurants our town has to offer since DS was born in October. :)

And it is really beautiful here in the fall. It's my favorite time of the year, except for the traffic that comes with football games, students returning to town with a million cars, etc.

Are you still in Virginia?

Discounts now-- 30% everything. And, I think Gymbucks earning is on also, so you end up accumulating those too. I will forward the COF e-mail to you. Apparently you're supposed to have this to get the 30% discount, but I am relatively inexperienced.

Jerilyn, sadly we are not still in Virginia. We're out in St. Louis (DH's hometown). I'm originally from NC, so I get really homesick! I can imagine that being a resident of C-ville is a pain on football weekends!!! We try to get back their at least once a year - my DS was born last October, too, so we're hoping to "introduce" him to UVA this fall!

Elizabeth, how funny! I moved from St. Louis TO Charlottesville! I adore C-ville, but miss St. Louis for the zoo, the park, the art museum, the science museum, etc. etc. all free! I lived in the DeBaliviere neighborhood. My dear friend is now back as the neonatology fellow at St. Louis Children's Hospital.

If you come in October, we will have to have a C-ville BBB get-together!

That would be fun! Pardon me if I didn't respond quickly to any earlier posts on this. I got a new laptop at work this morning and have been offline since yesterday afternoon. I am trying to figure out where everything is on my new machine and it's taking some digging around.

Shannon-- I forwarded the COF e-mail coupon to you. Hope it came through!
