Seriously, I just came here to post this and I saw Robyn's post. I have also started my search for the perfect dress. Ela's birthday is less than 2 months away (I can't believe it!). She looks better in darker colors, as lighter ones tend to make her look pale. I'm thinking purple or dark pink. I really like this:

Any other ideas?

Renee,

Our DD's are bday buddies and I cannot believe they'll be 1 in less than 2 months time.

I haven't really given much thought to what DD will wear but more on where we'll have the birthday party. Our house is pretty small and there are several family & friends who expect to be invited. So for me, it's going to depend on where we have the birthday party, then I can decide on what she'll wear.

As for the dress you posted, I think it's really cute. Would you pair a long sleeve shirt/onesie underneath?

I'm looking forward to reading everyone's suggestions.

I've officially started the birthday dress search, too. I found a gorgeous Little Mass dress at a local boutique, but it's a little more than I really want to spend. Here's what it looks like:

Stupid question, but are you actually going to have your DD's wear their dresses at their birthday party? I was thinking Avery's dress would be for her 1-year photos, since her party will be full of other 6-month to 2-year-olds running around getting each other dirty. I can't imagine putting her in a fancy dress for that. But I do want her to have a special dress to commemorate the event.

What are you all doing?

Oooh, that is stunning! I love it! Have you seen it online?

I am not sure what to do about the party. If I end up buying an expensive silk dress for pics, I have a simple (but still dressy) cotton J&J dress that was a gift when Ava was born that I think she will wear for her party. I can just throw it in the wash if it gets dirty and if it gets ruined, that's fine too.

If I end up with a less fancy dress (like the J&J jumper Kerry posted in my birthday dress thread), then she will wear it for both pics and party.

Yes, they have the dress at www.babypetunia.com, but not in the size we need. :(

I found a few very pretty dresses on this web site:

This is a special dress for each birthday with the number for 40$!

There are very VERY pretty (and expensive) dresses by Victoris'd kids.

Also they are having SALE on Little Mass. This dress is gorgeous!

I will probably leave DD in the dress for the party, but will probably change her for the cake eating part. I'm looking for a first birthday bib and maybe onesie she can wear while she eats.
