View Full Version : Question about LE Squall Parka sizing...

Actually, I guess it's a general LE sizing question. I don't understand why there is no size 18-24 months. I bought DD a sport squall from the overstocks site, and while it fits her now, I'm afraid it won't last the winter. She's wearing 18-24 months in tops now, and I have a hard time imagining that a 2T would fit her. Is this just a mental block on my part?

For LE, a 2T coat is about the same size as an 18-24m coat. Did you look at the size charts for LE?

Check her measurements with the LE size chart, but I think the 2T coat should fit her fine. We have it and it will last DS all winter. DS is all over the map in clothes size right now, some 18-24 M, some 2T and some pants still in 12-18 months even. When they hit size 18-24 months you do have to start studying the size charts. Some places have both 18-24 month and 2T, some don't and just have one or the other.

I've checked the size chart, but I don't have the right kind of tape measure to accurately measure DD's chest, waist, and hips. She's tall for her age (33" two months ago) but she's very skinny, so I'm afraid she'll swim in it. I guess I could go ahead and order the 2T and return it to Sears if it's way too big, but I hate to pay the shipping and then have to return it. Decisions, decisions!

Anyway, thanks for replying and Happy Thanksgiving to both of you and your families.

Height and weight are really enough to check the size charts. With a coat, height is most important unless you have a super chubby baby. As long as she's in the height range for the 2T, it should fit her fine.

DS is 33" and 26 lbs. so I'm sure the 2T will fit her fine. It is pretty big around on him this winter, but I think that is good so I can add layers underneath if necessary. I know the 18 month size would be way too small/short on him as that is what we had all last winter. Good luck with your decision!

Hi!

I personally would select the 2T. I ordered squall from the overstock site as well for my son in both the 12 month and 18month sizes (knowing I'd send one back). The 18 month was soooo huge!

I was having a similar size dilemna on the same coat for a girlfriend in South Carolina who thought her 9month old should be wearing the 2T based on the LE sizing chart for weight.

I took the following picture of my 34" and 28lb daughter in the 18month coat to show her how large it really was. It totally fit her--granted I don't know how comfy it would be with a sweater or layers on. As you can see in the pic she has shorts (well I guess you can't see them!) and a t-shirt on. Oh and ignore my DH in the background :-) and the kiddie chair I was painting too :-)

So I suspect the 18 month coat would work but you'd longer and more comfortable wear out of the 2T.

HTH!

Sorry the wrong picture posted above and I can't delete/correct it without an error. Here is my 34" and 28lb daughter Macey in the 18 month coat!

We have the 2T squall for DS too, and he is currently about 25-26 lbs and about 32-33". It fits him fine and leaves room for extra clothes underneath.

Hmmm...this doesn't look like the LE Squall Parka that I have in 2T. Ours is much shorter on DS who is 33" and is not cinched at the waist as the one in the picture appears to be.

I agree - this is a different one than the one currently on Lands End's site:

We had the current one last year in a 2T when Colin was about 33-34" tall, and it fit him well with some room to grow. This year we are using a 3T in the same coat, and he's about 39" tall. It also fits him well.

Oh my, what a dingbat I am!

Please accept my deepest apologies ... their coat is from LLBean, not Lands End. Darrrrrrr!

I swear, working full time with a 2 year old and a 6.5 month old with colds this week is just killing off brain cell after brain cell.
The one good trade off is they make my heart bigger each day with love :-)

Sorry for the confusion -- I THOUGHT I was trying to help! And they do say it's the thought that counts right?????? (begging for forgiveness)

Happy Thanksgiving -- it is Thanksgiving tomorrow right? ;-)
