We've planned an almost last minute Christening for my DD (who is 4 mos old) in 4 weeks so that she can be christened with her cousin. Now, I need to find a christening outfit!! I have a hard time getting around to a lot of stores so I am hoping someone can suggest some online options or a store that is sure to have a decent selection. I will also consider non-traditional attire . . . . so please, any tips would be greatly appreciated!

We ordered DD's baptismal dress from the House of Hatten outlet on-line. The dress was lovely and inexpensive--under $40 with shipping! The dress also arrived quickly!

Talbots Kids doesn't have a wide selection (usually one or two long gowns with matching hats/booties/etc) but may be an option if you end up wanting to see the gown in person and there's a store near you.

They typically run $118 for the gown only, but I got DD's on clearance for $33 including bonnet and booties.

Good luck! My DD wailed throughout her baptism and brunch--I hope that doesn't happen to you! :-)

I don't know what your price range is, but if you want something handmade, beautiful, unique and FAST, this is where I got Quinn and Andie's Christening gowns/outfits from.

The woman's work is wonderful and as long as she's not backlogged, I bet she could have you a gown in about a week or two. You place your order with her over the phone (you actually talk to her about the gown) and she can give you a better estimate of how quickly she can have it done. I got Quinlan the romper and Andie had the Celtic Gown (seen here http://www.white-works.com/celtgowns.htm) These are family heirlooms, so if that is what you had in mind, you might like these.

I'd check out eBay. My son was much older (almost 18 mos) so I had to go with something non-traditional. I ended up with a GORGEOUS silk suit for about $30, normally over $200. I was thrilled with it. I don't know if the seller would have anything like it (and probably they would be at much higher prices), but I couldn't have been happier. The seller was elegantbabyathome; I don't see that she has anything listed, but she does have a boutique, so it might be worth contacting her.

Here are a couple of pictures of my DS in his little outfit....

(Would you believe that I "cropped" these pictures to 400 X 300 pixels and 1 1/2 X 2 inches (or so) and they are still this huge?! I have no idea what I do wrong.

Is it possible you didn't save after you cropped? Those pics are 1024x768 pixels each.

I saw her stuff online and it is beautiful. Since the Christening will be in February (and I live in NYC) I thought that I would need something with long sleeves . . . although if she does custom work I suppose she could make anything with long-sleeves. I came across MurphyofIreland.com and they do have an Irish linen long-sleeve gown that is simple but cute. Has anyone heard of them or ordered through them?
