First of all, for anyone who hasn't gotten the flyer or seen ads for it, Stride Rite is having a buy one get one half off sale through March 13 (I think that's the right date!) Sadly, DS doesn't need new shoes right now. My question is, could I go ahead and buy him the next size up and assume he'll go into that size next? For example, he wears a 6W now - can I just buy two pairs in 6.5W or a pair in 6.5W and a pair in 7W? Thanks for any advice you can provide!

I've been buying DD's shoes at Stride Rite sale since last year. I already bought DD a pair of sandles and a pair of sneakers for the summer. Go earlier during the sale, so you have the best selection :)

When I buy ahead, I always bring DD with me and let the sales measure her feet and try on different styles. Let them know that you're buying ahead. So far they've done a good job estimating what size DD will be in next. It's important to try the shoes on, so you know how the shoes fit. Some styles are just wider or narrower than the others. Interestingly, DD never wear the half sizes. When she was size 6, they recommended size 7 for the next season. Therefore, we went through size 6, 7, 8 and this time I'm getting size 9. It may be different for you depending on the styles. For example, the saleswoman told me we may have to get size 8.5 for the sneakers, but then she thoughts the 9 should work.

After you get the shoes home, keep the receipt. They have a great exchange policy, so if the shoes don't work, you can get another pair.

HTH and have fun shoe shopping!!
