View Full Version : Help me decide on correct length for dress and headband how-to...

I received our Gymbo order yesterday and I thought I would love everything, but the spring flower cut out dress appears to be a bit short (shows the diaper cover when she's barely bending over). Just what is an appropriate length for a dress? I'm stumped because dd is really small and it's a 6-12 size with enough room on top, but seems rather short for even today. What do you think? I'm sorry about the quality of the photos - love my Sony Cybershot most days, but not this morning.

Also, I purchased some items from the sweet watermelon layette line and the headband is really cute on, but just how do little girls wear these? I've never put a headband on her because she has so much hair, but I thought this would be something different to do if I knew how.

Is there a child's hairstyle book out there? I know American Girl has one for their dolls, but I don't think our dd has that much hair yet. : ) Any assistance and advice will be appreciated.

How cute! She is precious! I'm a little surprised that the dress is so short but I think it looks good anyway. It sort of has that Hanna look of being short and showing the diaper cover some. A cute babyish look. :) I think if you sized up it would be too big in the body...the armholes already seem a tad big.

As for the headband, we haven't used one yet for Amy Grace but when I used to wear them myself, I did it basically like the second picture you posted. Across the top of the head and behind the ears. Just try to smooth her hair back with a brush before you put the headband on so that it will have a polished look to it. :) Very cute!

I think your DD looks cute in this dress! I know what you mean about the length, but my DD was in fairly short stuff last summer and I loved it - got to see more of her cute chubby legs! :) I agree with the PP that a size up probably wouldn't fit in the top. I love that dress and was tempted to buy it for my DD but we already have so many dresses!

I used to wear headbands and did what you did in your second picture, to keep my hair off my face. But I think your DD looks cute either way - I tried to use some for my DD but her hair got too puffy and messy - hard to explain but it just didn't work.

Thank you Denise and Jenny for your replies. I agree that a size up would not work unless I had it altered and that's entirely too much trouble. I hadn't thought of showing off her legs and I suspect that's what we'll do. It's funny to think of doing that because she has had chronic diarrhea since her arrival in the U.S. (in July) and the GI specialist who saw her two months ago was talking about performing all kinds of tests, etc., until he took a look at her legs and said he would not worry about her diarrhea after looking at her chunky thighs. Hmph!

Ida, Mia's waiting for an appointment for a peds gastroenterologist now for the same thing! It comes and goes and seldom gets really watery, just like unset pudding. ;)

She too is healthy as a horse and gaining weight just fine. She eats great, loves to try new foods, didn't respond to removal of fruits, didn't respond to removal of dairy.

Her ped thinks it's "toddler diarrhea" meaning there's no reason, it just IS and she'll outgrow it, but they want to make sure.

Kimberly and Ida, could it be molar teething? My oldest had terrible ongoing diarrhea when he was cutting his one and two year molars. Just a thought. :) BTW, *love* the chunky legs!

Kimberly, to avoid the diarrhea thread taking over, I'm sending you a pm. : ) I'll just quickly mention that we started out with the "toddler diarrhea" diagnosis (she was six months old at arrival) and we're now looking further. . .

Denise, could it be just teething? She had no teeth at six months, two lower incisors at one year, and just now cut the first top tooth at fourteen months!
