I know that some babies are too big for preemie clothing (that is, clothing smaller than 0-3 months) but we are getting down to the last few weeks and I'd like to find at least a few pieces (esp. pajamas/sleepers) in the tiny sizes so that we don't have to get stuff after she's born. All I have right now is one onesie and the come home from the hospital outfit :) Not necessarily looking for super cute things, just basics. The 0-3 month sleepers look like they're too big for teeny little arms and legs at the beginning! Where did you all find basic preemie stuff? Also, I've heard that it's hard to find small enough hats at the beginning - any wisdom there would be much appreciated! TIA!

Have you tried Baby Gap & Gymboree? They have some preemie sizes. Also, Target has some things in "newborn" size that worked for our DD who didn't hit 7 pounds for a couple of weeks or so.

The best little hat we found for her was at The Children's Place. We didn't have any HA pilot caps in an XXS, but that would have probably been ideal.

HTH & good luck!!

Agree - check out BabyGap. There usually are quite a few pieces of the "up to 7lbs" size on the clearance racks, too.

Just a thought..we never expected a smallish baby (big parents and diabetes, etc.) but he was 7 lbs 1 oz at birth (dropped to 6 lbs 6 oz) and the 0-3 months were HUGE on him. Not for very long, but I did want something that fit right--I found the NB size at Carter's just about fit and there was some preemie stuff there too, but for nighttime at first we used a lot of gowns. Those didn't matter if they were too big and worked really well for awhile.

Sorry for any typos--typing with kiddo onboard.

These days...everywhere. For a smallish newborn (Rose was 7lbs, 1 oz at birth), I found that the NB BabyGap size and Gymbo preemie stuff fit well for a couple of weeks. For a premature baby (Nate was 5lbs, 12 oz at birth), I found that the Carter's preemie and Little Me preemie stuff fit well. You can find the last 2 at BRU and some department stores.

DS was 6 lbs. when we left the hospital. My parents picked up a few preemie sleepers for us at Babies R Us. Not exactly babygap or Gymbo, but we managed! :)

also - the Child of Mine line at walmart (I know, WALMART of all places LOL) has newborn AND preemie sizing (you'd probably want the newborn, the preemie sizing looks SUPER SUPER tiny like for under 5lbs babies) and the George Baby line has preemie sizing too. This stuff appears to be really soft and comfy (and very simplistic) and cheap which makes it nice.

Of course, Gap, Gymbo, J&J and Talbots all have preemie sizing too, but well, that stuff is all more expensive! :)

DS was 6 lbs when we came home from the hospital, and all of the stuff we had at home was too big (I was expecting him to be several pounds heavier!) We bought a couple of packages of Gerber onesies and side-snap t-shirts for newborns (up to 8 pounds, I think) the next day, and they worked fine for a couple of weeks. We had some gowns that he wore sometimes for sleeping, but since we usually swaddled him, a onesie was sufficient at night.
