I got my Naartjie order today. The pants are all 6-12 months, as suggested by the salesperson on the phone. Here is a picture of the 3 pants. The tops and right sides are lined up. Seriously.

http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/user_files/35512.jpg

The bottom 2 pairs are from the essential line and the top is Whiz Floral Print and Baby Cord Pants.

Is the sizing generally so far off in Naartjie? The top pair fit pretty well now - a little long. The bottom pair is huge - about 2.5 inches big in the waist now.

If I exchange the bottom pair, will I have a chance of getting a smaller version, or should I size down?

In general, I love most of the stuff I got. I did get one item I didn't order and didn't get one I did order (transposed numbers, I guess). But, I don't really like the color, so it's going back anyway.

That is really funny!! I can't believe how much difference there is...although, after having half of their wardrobe be from naartjie, I should.
I did find that the essentials pants ran really, really wide in the little sizes, I will have to take them in for Gracie to be able to wear them without having them falling down.

Holy cow! That is crazy! I have no wisdom for you - that picture is the fear that has kept me from ordering directly from Naartjie. Those top purple pants are absolutely adorable though! I hope you can get it figured out - could you email that picture to Naartjie and ask them what you should exchange them for?

That's exactly why I've given up on ordering online from them! After dealing with this on my last big order, I made myself promise not to buy anything more from them unless it was IRL. The clothes are cute, but the sizing inconsistencies are a PITB.

I ended up calling a store and had the SA physically measure pants for me until she came across ones that were the same measurements as those that fit my DD. Luckily I got a nice SA and they weren't too busy!

I know the essentials line in the boys is running really large too, so I feel your pain! I got DS 12-18 M and they are way too big in the waist, but I can't bear to buy my almost 2 yo pants labeled 6-12!

I've always found the sizing to be very inconsistent. I had those same pants for my dd last year in a size 8. The length would vary 2-3 inches between pairs. You are lucky to find an SA willing to measure for you.

I don't order much online from them because the mistakes are frequent and the sizing and dye lot differences are just extra challenges I don't want to deal with.

I hope you are able to get what you want in sizes that fit your dd. Those purple pants are adorable.

That is CRAZY. My four year old was running today in her 18-24 month Naartjie pants, and they fell down around her ankles. Insanity.

I'm sorry that you're going through this. How frustrating!

I am absolutely unimpressed with every aspect of Naartjie.

You have to admit though, that is pretty funny! 3 different pants marked the same size! It is too bad that their clothes are so stinking cute! Good luck with everything and I hope you have better luck!

This happened to me with some essentials shirts. One size 3 was way bigger than the other, so i sent the smaller one back assuming it was mismarked, they send me a 4 and it was enourmous!

Their sizing is SOO screwy! I have no patience for it!

I just mailed them the photo and asked what I should do. It is completely crazy!

It looks like the top pair are from layette(am I right?) and it usually runs smaller than baby girls. The sizing though, is all over the place and hit or miss. Like the other person said, call and have the SA measure for you, I do and they are always very helpful. The sizing issues are why I always do phone orders, not email orders. The cuteness factor is worth the trouble!!!

I have it on good authority that resolving their sizing issues is a top priority. Really. The Naartjie "people" are aware of the discrepancies and are working, as we speak, so that you don't have these issues any more.

I know it's frustrating to have to continually return/reorder things, but hang in there. It WILL get better. It would be great if they offered a free exchange policy so you can send stuff back and get replacements without costing more money. That would win back some of you, right?

(and no, I am not employed by Naartjie. maybe someday when they open a store in my new state of Colorado I will be, though!)

Free exchanges would get me to buy twice the stuff!

Yay! Your post gives me hope! I love Naartjie for toddlers and up, so I hope they will resolve the issues soon enough for DD to wear their stuff next spring. And free returns would definitely win me over!

"Is the sizing generally so far off in Naartjie? "

Yes. I just bought from the new fall line 3-6, 6-12 and 12-18. I'm lucky that I'm only out the gas to drive to the store.

They ought to offer free shipping on exchange orders like Hanna Andersson, does.

The massive inconsistancy with sizing (as well as the quality not impressing my greatly) is part of why I've only ever placed on Naartjie order. Well, and the massive pain when it comes to ordering. ;)

I do know my opinion isn't on the more popular end of things, though. Some of the items we got were cute, they just didn't seem to be worth the overall hassle. Sorry you got pants that were so out of whack, though!

Fixing the wonky sizing is more important than free exchanges for size.

That would be good in the meantime, but the problem is by the time you get the order, try it on, figure out which sizes are weird, and reorder, the size you need is sold out. So then they have to call around to other stores to find it for you and ship your order in two shipments which costs them more money in shipping.

My solution is to ask the SA to measure things for me when I am doing my order for a new line. I ask her to hold pants up to ones I already have so I know if they will fit. That means my order takes a long time and the SA is busy measuring things instead of just grabbing my stuff and packing it.

If they ever go to an online ordering system, I don't know what I will do. I guess I will still have to call stores to ask them to measure the stuff for me? 90% of my daughter's wardrobe is Naartjie, but it's hard work getting stuff that fits. I end up ordering several colors and sizes and then sending most of it back once I pick what fits. Oh and let's talk about color variances! If things are the same color, they should match. I end up sending things back because the top and the bottom are different shades. Naartjie is a crapshoot. Random sizing and random color variations. But it's cute, it's trendy, and my daughter doesn't look like every other girl in town.

Maybe they could have garment measurements on the website like Mini Boden does? http://www.bodenusa.com But then they would *have* to be consistent within an item. It wouldn't work to post the measurements for the green pants if the blue ones in the same size are different.

Naartjie sizing is so whacked, and it makes the ordering process quite painful. As a result I'm really weaning myself off of Naartjie as it is way too much of a guessing game. I also have issues with their tops - my dd can fit into some size 2s (but many are tooo small), some size 3s, and even some 4s depending upon the item. I have the same fantasy floral pants (the ones on top) and the essentials in 18-24 and they are definitely not the same length. Their clothes are cute, but so are alot of other brands.

I thought they did have free shipping when you do exchanges. I mean you have to pay to ship the items back to them, but they are supposed to refund the shipping and you don't have to pay to have the new items shipped. I am in the process of doing a return because they sent me the wrong shirt and everything seems to be going smoothly. I guess I will find out with the $$ gets credited back to my card. Good luck though!

The problem with MB giving those measurements is that they aren't always accurate, either. At least they weren't with their spring line. I measured some of the items myself and there were discrepancies of up to a couple inches (before washing and as we all know MB often shrinks).

I've had a Naartjie SA order the length of a jumper before and be off by about 18 inches. In fact it was so off that I knew it was incorrect. Thankfully someone on the board here measured theirs for me, so I knew it was worth a try to order it.

My dd is about out of Naartjie sizing. The boys stuff is not cute enough IMO to be worth the hassle. I will still check out the store when I'm in a mall that has one, though (couple-few times a year).

If they mess up on your order they will pay the shipping, but they will not if you are just exchanging for a different size. This is why i always have an SA measure the pants for me. I agree it's a pain!
