I have been looking for months at swimsuits for DD and cannot find anything that I really like. Any suggestions of specific suits or brands? I don't want to spend more than $30ish on it, and need 18-24 months, or 2T if it runs small. I have been looking at Land's End a little bit, but the cute suits don't come smaller than 2T - do they run TTS? I prefer one pieces, or a really modest tankini. Thanks for any help!

From previous experience, I have always found that girls swimsuits run small! My DD will be 2 in a few weeks and I ordered her this suit in a 3t from Lands End and it fits perfect. She is not a big girl either, about 22 pounds maybe.

Talbots also has some cute girls suits too. I'm not sure of the price though.

Hope you find something!

I think LeTop has some really cute ones. I really like their monokinis: http://www.littledragonflies.com/swimwear.htm

Thanks! That is the exact swimsuit I was looking at. Good to know that it runs small! If it wouldn't be too much trouble, would you mind measuring your daughter's torso (like shoulder to crotch) so I can figure out if I need to order a 2 or 3? My DD is also 22lbs and I think the length will be the biggest question mark for me. Thanks again!

Allison,

I can't find a tape measure anywhere. I will look for it more tonight and try to measure her for you.

We also are only doing one-pieces. Some other places to look would be Target, Old Navy, Hanna Andersson, Carters, Janie & Jack and Gymboree. Also check eBay for NWT ones too. I also really thought the miniboden ones were cute, but someone cautioned me they felt more like cotton than a spandex-swimwear last year so I skipped them. I do think swimwear tends to run abit small. For example everything in size 80 at Hanna ranges from a-bit-too-big to clownishly-too-big on Dd. The size 80 swimsuit fits quite nicely. She wears 12-18 in most clothing but her suits are 18-24.

I am so sorry but there is not a tape measure in my house. If it helps any she was 33 inches at her 18 month check up.

I can never seem to find my tape when I need it, so here's a trick for measuring without a tape:

Take a piece of yarn, string, or ribbon and use it like a measuring tape on your child. Hold the ends or fold the string over to mark the length you measured. Then figure out the measurement in inches by holing the string up to a ruler, yardstick, retractable metal measuring tape, growth chart hanging on the wall, basically anything around the house that shows measurements. In a pinch, I've used an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper to guide an estimate.

No problem, thanks anyway Ann! My sister just gave DD a cute suit, so I think we're set now. :) If she hadn't, I was leaning towards a one-piece from MiniBoden. Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
