My 6 year old needs a mid-weight jacket to wear in the fall. She has an LL Bean windbreaker that works well for cool summer evenings and warmer fall and spring weather, and a big heavy winter coat for snowy days, but nothing in between that fits her.

I've looked around, and the best I can find is a jacket at LL Bean, but it's almost $50...I was hoping for a slightly better bargain than that. Any recommendations?

I'm looking too! Check out Sierra Trading POst. THey have good prices on Columbia and blackdiamond jackets that appear to be mid-weight.

I have a Columbia one for Sarah that I got at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale for $19. Not much help now, but next year its a good time to find deals on nice stylish fleece jackets at a good price. They always have some kind of fleece jacket on sale.

Costco has some too for $16.

Would Hanna wind-at-your-back anorak work for you? We live in England now, and I swear the anorak was made for this type of fall/spring weather. It is fleecy inside, and it is water-resistent outside, and it has a hood. Dd literally wears it all the time. Plus I got a sz 80 when she was in 70, so this is the 2nd year she's been wearing it. Full-price it is pricey, but I got it on a good sale (something off plus an additional 20% off) so I think it came to no more than $35. And HA is having sales right now, plus on occasion there are anoraks on eBay.
