I'm not having any luck finding something precious to bring home baby in that is really gender neutral. I'm in love with this outfit from Janie & Jack:

But, with the curved collar, bow and slight floral in the metallic pattern, it is probably too girly!

Does anyone have a suggestion or good place to look?

That does look a bit girly... it is really gorgeous. Could you buy a boy outfit tou love and a girl outfit you love and return the one that doesn't apply? I have seen some rompers/pjs that are neutral (giraffes, frogs, etc) in many brands (TCP, Carters etc) but that is just cute, not necessarily first pic worthy.

I think Zutano has some cute newborn outfits in boy, girl and gender neutral.

I bought this from Baby Gap:

I had a dream where baby was wearing something like it so it made shopping a bit easier. I am worried that it will wash the baby out in pics and I really wish it had feet. They have 2 piece versions that do have feet but I didn't want to spend that much. It also comes in red, chocolate brown and like a carmel brown.

And I am having big trouble with the whole Gap/ sweat shop thing. I knew about it in the past but I erroneously believed that they would have improved their labor situation.

I have a few organic baby clothing websites marked and I did buy this (it's super soft and will be a nice outfit...just not sure it is "special" enough :)):

This is my thread when I was originally looking for a gender neutral coming home outfit. I got great replies. HTH. :)

Oooo I really like the gap piece. Even in the soft brown it is perfect for girl or boy.

I agree that the Janie and jack one is girly!

How about simple White like this? Only thing about this one is that it is a 0-3 and will likely be way too big for a newborn!

I like the Gap cable knit one too! can't get much more gender neutral than cream. The pink or blue blanket will tip people off as to whether baby is a boy or a girl! :)

This one isn't elegant but super cute!

I know - it is really difficult to find gender neutral clothes these days because so many people find out in advance whether they are having a boy or a girl. This may be a really weird question, but do you have any family members who kept clothing from when you or a sibling/cousin or other relative were born? My DS wore the outfit that my mother made to take me home from the hospital when I was born, because in those days, most people didn't know if they were having a boy or a girl, so everything was gender neutral. Also, I really liked the sentimentality of having an heirloom outfit like that. I know I was lucky that she kept it, but when I mention it to other people, I hear that a lot of people kept things like that in their attics and forgot about them, so maybe someone can lend you something like that?

Why not buy an outfit for each gender then either return (or donate if you prewashed) the one you don't need? It's tough to find GN clothing out there!

Childrens Place as LOTS of stretchies/footed sleepers that would work for either gender! I always felt like my little ones were most comfy in something like this anyways

I saw a black and white photo of a newborn in the Gap outfit and it was gorgeous. The baby was lying on a matching blanket. The texture in the photo was beautiful. That being said I bought my grandson due in Feb the camel colored one with the matching hat. They also have a red one that just came out and the color is TDF red. It also has a matching hat. When it goes on sale I'll definitely get it too.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I ended up going with the cable knit set from Gap. I saw it irl this weekend and it was on sale, so that made it easy. I was impressed with the softness of the knit. I'm really considering a couple of the other suggestions as well, but I'm trying to restrain myself until the baby is born. I'm drawn to the all white sets like the Petit Bateau that was suggested, but I should probably not get too much in white! Thanks again, I feel much better knowing that I have at least one thing for the baby to wear!
