I'm looking for some comfy snow boots for my almost 3 year old son. He is pretty sensitive to uncomfortable clothes and shoes, in general. In years past I've found the Lands End/LL Bean type boots to be to inflexible for him - particularly in the ankle. However, this year the Lands End line looks a little more well-designed. Has anyone tried them out? Any advice? My next option would probably be the Stride Rite boots. Any experience there?

Our family likes to spend a lot of time outdoors in the winter so comfy and warm clothes/boots are a must to keep our little guy happy.

Thanks,
Natalie

PS: These were the ones I was thinking of:

I normally get the LE Snow Flurries, but this year I plan to get these new ones from LE. They look nice and flexible, warm, and easier for my dd to get on herself.

I also like the toddler SR boots. i got them for my little one. What size is your son?

Well, in a fit of just wanting to get this project over I dragged my son out to the mall. We checked out the Lands End boots at Sears and they did seem quite stiff in general. We didn't try them on as they didn't have the right size. We then went to SR and tried on both the Stride Rite brand as well as the Kamiks. He ended up picking these: http://www.kamik.com/GenfootWeb/servlet/webProductDisplay.webProductDisplaySrv?currentMode =DETAIL&curCatalog=2007&curSeason=WINTER2007&curRow=139
They are rated to -40F whereas the SR only to OF so hopefully that will help with warmth outside. I also felt around inside and there were no sharp edges. Let's hope these work! I know I could have gotten them or last year's model a lot cheaper online, but the saleslady was quite helpful and at least the project is done now!

We've had those and they are very, very flexible - much less stiff than the LE style.

For anyone else with the same problem, I just got these for 3 YO DD at an outlet:

She is pretty picky too but they light up in the back and she loves that. I was also surprised at how easy they were to put on and take off. I think they really are comfy otherwise she probably would have had a fit.

We like Ecco snow boots here. They also work for fall and winter.

Oooh- I feel your pain...I too have a "clothes sensitive" 3 year old. I have not found the answer, but did see some Kamik's that looked flexible. Kid Surplus just sent me an email saying that they have discounted Sorels and Columbias. You should also check sierratradingpost.com.

We have the same boots. Had to buy a new pair today as DS refused to wear the other one. They are great for wet weather as are made of Gore-Tex. We had lots of wet snow and DS feet were completely dry, even tough he likes to walk through puddles. And if they are warm enough for a Ukrainian winter, I am sure they'd be fine for your based on what you wrote. I do not even regret paying full price ($98 for us), which I almost never-ever do.

Thanks! I'll hold off on the snow boots for now.
