Does anyone know if they sell the Similac ready to feed in individual bottles? That (of course) seems to be what DS prefers, but we don't use it frequently enough and we end up tossing so much in the big bottle. And we can't travel with it.

They do sell 8 oz cans of RTF of Similac, but not all places carry it. I know I have seen it at BRU, Target, CVS and Safeway. Some places also carry the 3 or 4 oz RTF like they have in the hospital. I have seen this at BRU sometimes and you can also order it from Ross Labs and places like CVS online. This is VERY expensive for everyday useage, but I found it pretty convenient for travel and to keep a spare in the car or diaper bag just in case.

I know they have this because we got 4 oz bottles of this from the hospital when my daughter was born.

I believe you can buy them by the case from the manufacturer, and also in 8 oz sizes, but it isn't cheap.

I remember that we got those from the hospital too, but I wasn't sure if that was a hospital thing or not. I realize that it will be expensive, but for the one or two times a day we might use it, it's throwing money away with the big bottles. Why is it that they need to be used up within two days? Do you think it's a conspiracy to make you use more and therefore buy more?

ps...have tried the Enfamil powder formula and DS developed a horrible diaper rash. I am going to pick up some Similac powder today and see if his reaction remains the same...I figured he had an intolerance for cow's milk, but when I drink milk he doesn't get a rash, and same with the similac. hmmm....

The RTF expires after 48 hours just like the powder does once you mix it up. After it has been opened, it is exposed to the bacteria in the air which can start growing in the formula. Ick.

I know I have seen those small bottles at BRU. But it won't be long before Gannon is drinking 6 or 8 oz bottles and you'll be surprised how much more quickly you will go through it. You may want to try Enfamil RTF as well. The RTF is a slightly different formulation than the powder.

If you really think it might be a cow's milk allergy you could try a soy formula. You must have gotten samples of this? But you're right, it could be the brand too.

Don't know if this will help, but you might want to try this link:

http://rpdlocator.com/welcomeaddition/

You pick the type of product you're looking for and enter your zip code. It's suppose to show you places that sell the product. I'm trying to test it, and I'm still waiting for the screen to load....

Also, you can probably ask your ped for a few samples of the small RTF bottles. And while you're asking your ped, you might want to talk to them about the rash and about switching formulas. Everything I read says "talk to your ped before switching formulas." I would especially talk to them before switching to a soy product. But that's just me.

Okay, I got a response from the link above, and for my area, the 4oz. bottles are sold at Eckerd, CVS, and Rite Aid. It also says http://www.CVS.com and http://www.Walgreens.com. Or you can try direct from them at http://www.rosstore.com.

I know my local grocery store carries the 8oz. can, but they were too expensive for us since Evan was strictly formula fed. We would buy the 32oz. bottles at Wal-Mart or Target. And besides, Evan never made it to more than a 6oz. bottle, so the other sizes didn't work well for us anyway.
