freezer bags

Do I have to use those special Medela -type bags to freeze ebm? Or can you just use ziplocs or something? Those special bags are so expensive!

I've never tried Ziplocs, but as long as they really hold liquid, I'd think they'd be okay. The difference is that the breastmilk bags are more vertical with smaller openings, so it would be a lot easier to pour thawed breastmilk than it would be with a Ziploc. FWIW, I prefer to freeze in breastmilk storage bottles. Evenflo makes some pretty inexpensive ones (which also fit the PIS), and then they can be reused indefinitely.

Theoretically the breastmilk bags are specially made not to let in oxygen so the milk lasts longer. On the other hand, isn't this supposed to be what Ziploc freezer bags do too?
