In the May 03 issue of American Baby there is small article on possible problems arising from letting your baby fall asleep with a bottle. It states that it can cause wheezing (difficulty breathing that results in a whistling sound) between the ages of 1 and 5, and for asthma at age 5. This happens because when the baby is being fed lying down, fluid may draw into the airways.

After reading this I am wondering if these risks also apply when you breastfeed your baby lying down. I love to BF Alexander in the lying down position (specially in the middle of the night). He also chokes very frequently and this is the only position in which he does not choke. Does anyone have any insights on this?
