Hi Everyone,

Well, I think that we might have caught thrush. Has anyone every boiled their Pump In Style parts? I don't want to melt the cones or any of the parts. How long can I boil them for and should the water be a rolling boil?

I'm going to try and get in to see the ped tomorrow. Is there anything I can do in the mean time besides boil pacifiers and nipples?

Thank you!

I have boiled my PIS parts. I don't remember how long, maybe 10 minutes? It was a rolling boil.

As far as other things to do:
- Make a solution of vinegar and water to rub on your nipples & arreolas (I believe it's 50/50, but I'll double check that for you. Use cotton balls to rub it on at least a couple times a day.
- Change your bra frequently (at least once a day, more if you leak). You can also lay your bra in the sun or put it in the dryer for a little while before putting it on.
- Sun exposure for your breasts is great too if you can swing it. :)

Your ped can prescribe treatment for Kailey, but I think your dr needs to prescribe for you.

I've boiled everything except the tubes for 10 minutes. You should boil everything (nipples, pacifiers) after she's used it.

You can also do a vinegar rinse on your bras, and wear a new bra everyday, put lotrimin or nystatin cream on your nipples, and take an antiobiotic or Gentian Violet.

Thank you everyone! I have an appointment with the ped later on today. How long can the baby use a pacifier before boiling again? We have several pacifiers and I started her off with a fresh one this morning.

Also, is gynalotrimin okay for the baby if I put it on my nipples?

I believe it is. I remember a LC recommending this to a mom with thrush at my breastfeeding support group.
