In my preparation to start solids, I'm wondering what type of containers I should buy for when we take something on the go? What do you find best? I'm talking about the pureed stuff too.

TIA!!

Tupperware has these great little container that seem just made for babyfood: http://order.tupperware.com/pls/htprod_www/tup_show_item.show_item_detail
I've also used bottles from my Avent storage set - the smaller bottless. They're actually perfect size for babyfood, and have a wide enough neck to stick a spoon into. I have tons of them for storing EBM, so sometimes they did double duty.

Anyway, either of those containers are the perfect size for holding 1-2 cubes of frozen homemade babyfood. I would just pop 'em in the container and they'd usually be defrosted by the time I needed them. Or if I needed to keep them cold longer I'd put them in an insulated bottle carrier - they both fit great!

OK, my tupperware link doesn't work for some reason? Anway, from the tupperware site go to "Half-price offers" then at the bottom of the page you'll see the products. It's the "classic sheer midgets".

Mia:

I have some of the midgets for salad dressing and I find that the lids are difficult to put on. Do you have that problem?

I love Gladware or Ziplock disposable containers "The containers you love to use but can afford to lose!" ;) I buy the 4oz.(1/2 cup) and 8oz. (1cup) size. They are perfect for freezing small quantities in the 4oz. size or for putting food cubes into. Even now that Josh is onto tabel food, we put his food into these containers and bring them with us to the restuarant. They are freezer, microwave, and dishwasher safe. Plus they are so cheap (8 in a pack for about $2.50) that I don't care if the lids get lost, or if it's inconvenient to bring them back home with me when we're out (or they are too yucky), I just toss them out.

These are hands down my favs: http://www.thefirstyears.com/products/product.asp?pValue=1301

Even though they are "take and toss" they last forever. You get 6 for about $3 at Target.

I have also recently started using these to send Sarah's lunch to preschool: http://www.glad.com/containers.html

They are cheaper, but I don't like them nearly as well and after only a few uses, some of them have cracks. But on the other hand, I don't care if they don't make it back from preschool.

To store I just froze them in the ice cube trays and then put the cubes into a freezer bag. I just thawed them in the micro in a plastic bowl. When I went out I used washed out baby food jars and the mini tupperwares.

I second the "take & toss" cups by First Years. They come in a cute snack size and a small bowl size. Overall they've lasted really well, though my son likes to throw things on the floor and has managed to crack two of the cups that way (good thing they're so affordable!).

I love the Take and Toss ones as well. We've been using them for over 2 months now, and I just dump them in the dishwasher. They are still in excellent shape.

I also like the 4 oz Tupperware ones for feeding at home, because they less tippy than the Take and Toss ones. And I bought 2 of the trays with the 10 1 oz containers from One Step Ahead for freezing veggies, because I make up at least a week's worth at a time. I also like these 1 oz cubes for day care - very compact for the bottle bag, and the right size serving for trying something new.
