The three places I would recommend are:

www.motherwear.com
www.expressiva.com
www.onehotmama.com

Honestly, IMOH, you can't. You are better off buying a shirt you like and lifting it up. I can spot a nursing shirt a mile away and never liked that feeling. I just pull my shirt up and cover with a light blanket if necessary.

I just went on a buying frenzy and bought 2 from the above site. They are fantastic! They are cute and really easy to use and my SIL the other day said "Wow, what a cute shirt." Then I lifted the flap to flash my boob and she was really impressed that she couldn't tell it was a nursing shirt. I got the Japanese shirt (I think that's what it's called) and one of the 3/4 length tees. I ordered on Wed, and my stuff was here from SWEDEN by Friday. I don't know how they did that! AFter I wash it to see how it wears, I will be ordering more in differnt colors.

I also ordered lots of stuff from Expressiva, Motherwear, and another site, and it's all going back because it doesn't begin to compare.

I am one happy Mama with the above Boob brand.

Don't bother. I've been nursing 6 months and never bought one. Waste of money IMHO.

This site has some cute ones. I actually bought one and I am not nursing anymore! No one has ever guessed it is a nursing top.

I think nursing tops are great, and the women who think they are a waste of money must not have a flabby belly that they want to keep covered up!

ITA! I've been nursing nearly 5 months without any nursing tops, covering up with a sling. We eat out more often than not, and I just got tired of checking to see that my side and belly are adequately covered. I'm much more sensitive about that than showing boob! I now love mt 2 nursing tops and don't want to wear anything else! I don't need to fuss with using anything to hide my side. Love that!

I wish I could do with regular shirts, but I'm a little too big and with nursing 14 month olds, they like to 'help' so nursing shirts are all I wear. Although, I think alot of them are ugly, I've found some really nice stuff at motherwear.com. Skip motherhood. They're pretty yukky. I've seen cute things at expressiva.com and onehotmama.com, but haven't ordered from them yet.

Beth I love the japanese shirt! Did you get that pattern or solid black? Post after you wash it and wear it a few times. What are some of your other good nursing shirt finds) (I know you said that Motherwear doesn't compare?

Gotta love the name.....Boob brand. LOL :P

I just got the solid black. I'll probably wash it this weekend and then I'll post how it turns out. I think it will be nice, though the tag says to expect 5% shrinkage, which stinks because it's snug now. The sizes run small. I got a large Japan shirt, and it just fits, whereas the medium Motherwear stuff is borderline too big. So keep that in mind if you order one.
