View Full Version : Two unrelated questions: Thrush and eating pattern

1) Is it possible for me to have thrush with no symptoms whatsoever? DS has a bad diaper rash that is a yeast infection, and the ped said he has thrush as well. But I'm fine - no pain or visible signs of yeast infection. I'm treating myself, in any case, and sterlizing EVERYTHING!

2) DS is now 9 months old. He rarely drinks more than 2 oz of his morning bottle, regardless of whether he gets the EBM before or after his solid food. Is this a sign that he's ready to drop that nipple feeding?

Excluding the morning feeding, he nurses a minimum of 6 times a day and has a bottle of EBM in the afternoon. He typically does almost finish a 6 oz bottle in the afternoon, so I don't think it's a bottle strike. DS now has 3 solid meals a day, with the morning meal being the largest (cereal, fruit and yogurt).

TIA

Nita you can totally have thrush with no symptoms (or vice versa with baby)! His eating is a response to his symptoms of thrush too so he is sort of on strike until it gets a little better for him. For Ryan it usually lasted 2 days of reduced eating and then he resumed his appetite. Make sure you keep sterilizing and use paper towels instead of regular cotton towels! Here are some good articles for you to read more about it:

and http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/thrush-resources.html has all of the links to everything you ever wanted to know about thrush!

I hope it gets better soon!

Debbi,
Thanks! I always use paper towels for his stuff. And I'd found most of the links from a previous post of yours - which was SOOOO helpful.

I should have clarified the eating question. The pattern isn't a recent one, which is why I think it's unrelated to thrush. He's been displaying the lack of interest in the morning bottle for almost a month now. He does eat all the solid food at that time, though.

We have a tough couple of weeks ahead - DS is battling an ear infection as well, and seems to be reacting really poorly to the antibiotic.
