I am 6 months along and having low back pain. Any recommendations for good support? Thanks!

I had back pain in pregnancy too. A friend of mine got me a pillow similar to this when I was 7 or 8 months along and it was a lifesaver. [http://makeashorterlink.com/?Q55812617] I took it with me EVERYWHERE! I know I looked like a geek carring my back support into the movie theatre, but it helped so much!

Good luck!

That was about the time my low back pain started. I used one of those "belly belts." I can't remember the name, but I got it at Babies R Us. It was not very expensive and you could not tell I was wearing it. It really did help (until about 38 weeks when nothing helps!) Also, I had a really great pre-natal massage person. Make sure the person who does this is trained in this area and talk to your OB about what to avoid and/or recommendations. The person who did mine had all these foam blocks and wedges to support the belly. It was worth the price of the massage alone just to have the belly supported like that! I have a friend in Florida, where everyone has a pool, who swore that floating helped her back pain. I was never brave enough to try on, let alone wear, a maternity bathing suit.
Good luck! Lisa

I spent the last 4 months of my pregnancy going to the pool 3 times a week. The pain was gone after 2 visits but I kept going so it wouldn't come back. My doctor told me that water is actually very good in helping pregnant ladies with their back problems. If your not into going to the pool try taking a bath every night.

I have a history of disc injury and two debilitating back injuries. I lived in fear of pregnancy and what would happen with my back. ITA with the massage. I went every two weeks until I was in my last trimester and then I went weekly until a couple days before delivering. My back fared beautifully and it was a glorious hour for me. It helped that my insurance paid for it. (Through my chiros office it gets billed as PT). I only pay a 10.00 copay.

The belly belt thing was very helpful for me too. Also, YOGA was key to keeping flexible. You want a pre-natal yoga class, not a regular one. Take care!

hi

i totally recommend the belly support belt by mom-eez. i bought mine for about $40 at my birth center (north of boston). the mom-eez's are much more supportive than the thin strip ones BRU sells.

good luck - you only have a few more months to go!
