I know I have read that eating oatmeal can help increaease your milk supply. I recently told a friend who is nursing about this, and she wants to know, can it be the instant flavored kind? Or does it have to be old fashioned long-cooking oats?

It's the old fashioned oatmeal kind.
There's lots of info on the web but here are two sites that came up first in the search for her to read....

It also doesn't have to be a bowl in the morning. Many moms make oatmeal cookies and eat them throughout the day. Esp when they are sick of eating regular oatmeal, or don't like it.
I think it's any oatmeal. I only eat the instant-flavored kind and it's helped my supply.

I ate (devoured) it in the form of my mom's oatmeal raisin cookies. ;) Worked for me & I love oatmeal cookies.

Hmmm, this site among a few others said NOT instant.
That's cool that it worked for you though!!!

I've also heard that instant doesn't work.
