How much EBM should DS take before starting cereals? He is almost 4 months and I do not plan on feeding him cereal for another month or so. However, he seems to be a little more whiny and I am not sure if he is still hungry. Yesterday I increased his bottles to 7 oz and he even nursed a little after that. He was on a schedule of 5 1/2 oz every 4 hours. He is still sleeping through the night. I am so confused. I am worried that I am starving my little one, however, if he takes too much, he is spitting up and there are no other hunger signs.
I feel like a bad Mommy. Everyone is pushing the cereal, but I don't think he is ready.
TIA,
Alex

don't let anyone tell you to give cereal to your 4 month old when you know he isn't ready. my ped told me my 4 month old giant needed cereal and he could NOT have been MORE WRONG. it was a disaster. you are not starving him, i promise!!

4 months is a transitional time. there have been TONS of posts on here about why our 4 month olds suddenly got fussy and wouldn't nap, etc, etc. it probably isn't hunger related. he is probably just more aware of what is going on around him and he is learning to adjust to his big world!

he should be eating 32 ounces per day before he needs cereal. AND he should be sitting on his own, watching you eat with great interest, putting things in his mouth, etc etc.

good luck. you are NOT a bad mommy! you are a good mommy to wait until HE is ready, not the "everyone" else who want him to be ready when he is not.
