Nice dress or outfit?

A friend is going to be 8.5 months pregnant at a wedding this August, and I'm trying to help her find a dress or outfit to wear that will be comfortable, pretty, and airy - the reception venue has no a/c...

I've offered to sew for her, if necessary, so pattern ideas are good too.

Well, I haven't found many in-print maternity patterns that are "dressy." BUT you might try searching on eBay, as I have found some older patterns that I like.

If you have a "Motherhood" store in your area, I also suggest checking it out; mine has a lot of cute dresses. And, if she doesn't mind used clothing and is a "common" size, eBay has a lot of dressier maternity dresses.

I'm working on a new cute dress - for the same wedding. DH is the best man, and this will be my first opportunity to really dress up in ages...I actually have a ton of brand new clothes that I bought on April 4, 2003 - my best friend and I culled all the fat clothes out of my wardrobe and went to Jersey Gardens to get me a whole new one. Two weeks later, I was pregnant (surprise!), so I never got to wear most of it.

But I'm still making a new dress for the wedding...I'm going all out :)

I have the same issue- wedding to attend at 8 months pg. I decided to go with a pant ensemble b/c I was concerned with ankles swelling in the June heat (outdoor wedding). I found several dressy options at Mimi Maternity- the one I bought is not on the web site but was a comfortable mesh material flowing pant with sleeveless top- very elegant!
