I am expecting in 6 weeks and not normally a bra person but have been wearing them since being pregnant. I went up a size in width and cup and I match what the internet says by my measurements but I tend to get nipple pain after wearing the bra a couple of hours, def. by the end of the day. Should I go up a width or a cup size?
Thanks,
Shannon

Do you mean you're sensitive? I had very sensitive nipples towards the end of pg with DD and have had it just recently with this pregnancy.

I wouldn't think your bra size will affect it since you're wearing the correct size. Does it feel too tight in the cup? You could try a bigger cup size to see if that helps.

I am sensitive but this hurts. The pain goes away after I take off my bra.

Are your nipples flattened or smooshed in at all when you take off your bra? If they are, your cups are too tight. Otherwise, it might be just that late-pregnancy nipple sensitivity that many people have. One option is to wear breast shells inside your bra to hold the fabric off your nipples.

I agree with Rachel, breast shields are wonderful! Medela makes two kinds: for sore nipples and inverted nipples. I've seen both at BRU, and they are about $14 a pair. They feel odd at first, but you get used to them quickly. They will also help to air dry your nipples after a feeding, which will prevent more soreness and possibly cracking.

As far as your lack of comfort in the bra...
have you considered just wearing some tanks with a built in bra support? I find them very comfortable, especially for just around the house. There are great nursing tanks, like the Glamourmom, which still give excellent support and look like a normal top.

Hope you find some comfort soon!
