I thought this might be helpful for all you hard-to-fit gals out there:

I took a bra that fit well, took a deep breath, and then cut the strap off, leaving about 1/4" of strap attatched to the cup.

I picked up a 2-hook width bra extender, and cut it down the middle, splitting the two rows of hooks. Then I cut one eye off the top of each side (I only wanted three hook positions on the strap), and I cut the actual hook off. I sewed the hook onto the portion of the strap near the cup, and the row of three eyes onto the strap. Then I took a piece of elastic, sewed one end to the cup near the underwire, and one end to the strap. This keeps the strap from flying away when unhooked.

It really wasn't that hard. I'm so proud of myself. Now, I have to find a tan extender to do another bra.

That sounds great! If I could sew at all it even sounds pretty easy, but I think it's beyond my capabilities--at least for the moment. Right now I can't even figure out how to walk in a straight line. But I have a million old bras lying around that are "real" bras and it would be great to try that on them. Maybe one of these days.

Sorry for any typos--typing with kiddo onboard.

FWIW, I really don't think this took a lot of sewing skill. You could probably do it by hand, but that's not for me. You need to know how to sew a straight line (forward and backward), and use a pair of scissors. It tried it on a cheap bra first, too. ha ha.

Cool! Thanks for the idea!

BTW, I bought tan extenders at Joanne Fabrics.

You go girl! Congrats!

Funny.... I don't know how to sew at all and when I glanced "tan extender" I thought you were naming some product that would make your summer tan last longer. :P

eta: Ack! I'm not pregnant, btw. I thought I was in the Feeding forum!
