You'd think that in a city like Chicago, I could find a good selection of maternity sweaters. But I can't, and I'm cold!! My requirements are:

1. Machine washable

2. Suitable for work (business casual, I'm in consulting so usually wear dress pants and a nice top)

3. Not low cut!

4. Not too expensive. This is our last baby, and I only have 11 weeks left to go. $30-35 is probably my limit, though less is better.

So has anyone seen anything decent out there? Online or B&M is fine.

Thanks!!!

This is driving me NUTS too. Especially the low cut part - I swear that everything I find is cut to my bra. Uck. I feel like I've been everywhere looking for more sweaters.

All my sweaters are from the gap - everything else has acrylic in it, and I HATE acrylic, is too low-cut or is not appropriate for work.

1) I have this gap one in black, and it is quite thick and VERY warm, but hand wash. The pinks/purples are on sale for 23.99.

I also have this one in green, but I got it for $8.99 - it's a v-neck and really comfy - great w/ work pants. I am going to buy another one if they go on sale after x-mas.

I just ordered this one because my neighbor at work has it, and I can't wait to get it! She loves it - the light blue is 27.99

I'm hoping there's a post x-mas gap code or more mark-downs, and ebates is 3%.

Hope that helps!

Do you have an H&M? They had a couple of cute ones a few weeks back.

Have you tried jcpenney.com? They had nicely made maternity sweaters (and other items) last year when I was pregnant. They look like they have free shipping on orders of $25 or more right now too! Here are some styles on their site:

On sale for $25:

Striped V-neck - doesn't looks super low-cut, comes in several color variations of stripes, $17:

A solid V-neck that comes in many colors and also doesn't look super-low cut, $13!:

You might also try Kohls.

I think that I will try to hold out for a Gap code (or more sales) post-holiday rush. Some of them are a bit more casual than I wanted, but better than most of what I've seen! Thanks, Tara!!

We do, but I don't think it has maternity. The one close to work probably does, but I haven't been motivated to sludge through all the muck to get to it on my lunch hour!

I tried Penney's last night because they had some cute stuff in their maternity catalog, but most of it was sold out or not in my size/color - argh! Kohls hasn't had much at our local store lately, and what I saw online was pretty casual (hooded, etc.). I also found that it ran very long for my 5'4" body.

Considering how fast the cute stuff seems to sell out, you'd think that more stores would offer winter stuff in maternity sizes. But then, I've been baffled before by whoever makes these decisions related to maternity clothes.

To add insult to injury, I know that we'll see spring maternity stuff starting in January - like any of us in cold climates NEED that stuff in January!

Lori,

Woodfield H&M has maternity, but I know that is far for you.

I just got this cardigan from Gap and it is really warm. Ordered it online, but I know the Gap in Orland Park had them in the store around Thanksgiving.
