Why can I not find something as simple as a decent pair of khaki pants? I'm looking for a basic pair of chino type pants. Maybe with a bit of stretch. Preferably with a demi-panel waist. Any shade of khaki/stone/beige will do. I want them to be full length (not capris), but would love if they were available in a petite or short length (I'm just 5'2") although I could hem if I had to. I don't want a bunch of cargo pockets or other embellishments

I tried on a pair at Old Navy...but it was early in my pregnancy and I didn't think they'd fit well enough. I thought I'd outgrow the XS but the smalls were huge on me (I'm normally a size 2). Now I'm kicking myself, because they're no longer available. I tried on a pair at the Gap, but the legs were awfully wide (making my short legs look even shorter).

I don't really want to spend more than $50 or so.

Any suggestions?

I'm also looking for a pair of white jeans, because I don't think I'll be able to get away with my regular white jeans plus a bella band for much longer. The ones I have are a bit low waisted and keep popping our under the band.

Land's End has a few pants left from their (unfortunately) discontinued maternity line, now in their overstock section. Luckily for you, it's the size 4's still left. The khakis have an adjustable waist and they hem them to the length you specify. The only problem is that the sand color is a little funny, with a slightly-greenish hue in some light.

Check them out:

I also found some cute khakis at Motherhood, but I can't speak to your sizing issue...

BTW- I know how you feel about the Gap pants, the bottoms were as big as my feet!

Good Luck!

I'm at the other end of the size range from you, but I found Old navy online to have a large selection of khaki pants -- I think I tried about 8 different pairs.

These are the ones I ended up with ($15, so waaay under $50, too)

These were really stretchy, and had that kind of "shiny" look that some khakis have (too snug in thighs for me, though) ugh, out of XS today, though.

These trousers come in a khaki:

Full panel, but, nice traditional Khakis and they have an XS:

These Roll panels can fit like a demi panel:

I think I also saw at least one pair at JC Penny that wasn't all cluttered up with cargo pockets.

Hope this helps,

Karen...I'm kind of leaning toward the pants you chose. At $15.99 if they're too long I would even have them hemmed professionally and they'd still be a deal. I'm just wondering what the back pockets look like. I guess I shouldn't care much since they'll end up covered by long maternity tops anyway.

I'll try to take a photo of the back tonight.

OK, here's what the back pockets look like.

If you know the exact style and size that you want, you can probably try ebay.

Karen...thanks for posting the picture. They seem like exctly what I'm looking for...just a classic pair of khaki chinos.

You're welcome. I hope they work for you. Oh yeah, I think there is a discount code for old navy online orders in the Bargains forum -- not that $15 isn't already a deal, but every little bit helps. :)
