Hi all: I was at Mimi Maternity this past week looking for some long shirts and saw they had a pretty good selection of nursing bras. Does anyone have one that they really like from there? Though this is my 2nd baby, I'm still looking for a bra that doesn't show the nursing pads as much and still offers some 'nipple coverage' when I'm not using nursing pads and does not have underwire. Anyone?

I think the Mimi ones are the same as Motherhood Maternity (where I live Mimi, Pea in the Pod and Motherhood are all under one roof). They have one that is pretty good at not showing the pads, but it is underwire. Quality is 'OK' but make sure you try it on, I think it might be all sales final on bras.

Funny, I hardly ever look at this board, but my nursing bras from Mimi are my favorites, and lasted through 2 kids. It is Mimi Maternity brand, no underwire, good support, and just a little thicker for better nipple coverage, and no lace or seams so it looks smooth under clothes. I got them a few years ago so all I can say is go there and try a bunch on. And I found they had things that Motherhood maternity (their sister store) did not.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! I'll definitely take a trip again to try them out when time gets closer. :)

I totally agree... Mimi has a much better selection/quality than Motherhood and I think we have the same bra. I jsut got mine this fall, but it is not underwire (had mastitis issues this time around) looks almost like a sports bra, but doesn't fit like one, thick enough to cover, but not too thick and comfy for 24/7 wear. I think it was $30.

Would someone mind giving me the item # off their tags so I can look for this bra, specifically? It seems like it's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks!

I loved my Mimi Maternity nursing bras as well (I had 3). They are definately way better quality than the Motherhood ones and they hold up well. The bras sold at Pea & the Pod are Mimi Maternity ones as well. My favorite non-underwire bra from them was the "Seamless Softcup nursing bra." I also loved their "Seamless Snap Front nursing bra" but that one has an underwire. All of their bras come in white, black, or nude. I definately recommend the "seamless" bras over the cotton ones-- they stretch really well and stay new looking longer.

Here's the link to all their bras:

I had this bra (in both nude and black) http://www.mimimaternity.com/Product.asp?category_Name=Nursing+Bras&category_Id=3071&product_Id=96293071

I found it to be quite comfortable (no wire) but more shaping than a true sports type bra. It worked better under clothes than my Bravados (not so much of a uniboob).

I never wore it with pads, so I can't say how they'd fit.

I also have the seamless softcup nursing bra as well. I also have the Yes! bra. I definately prefer the Mimi bra over the Yes! bra. Here's my review comparing the two bras.

Comfort: I find the Yes! bra slightly more comfortable because it does have better back support. I'm 36E now. If you're smaller, this may not be an issue. However, I find the fabric of the Mimi bra feels better. Also there's this thick fabric seam (it functions like a wire/boning without being a wire) kinda near your armpit area which seems to dig into me at times -- some days i notice it and somedays not. It may just have to do w/ the way it fits on me or maybe I should have gone to a 38D (i was debating b/w the 2 at the store).

Function: I find the clips on the Mimi are not as well designed as the ones on the Yes! bra. With the Mimi bra, I definately have to concentrate more on getting the snap exactly in place because the clip is so much smaller than on the Yes! bra.
I find getting on & off the sports bra (yes! bra) over my head such a big pain whereas the Mimi bra has a normal back clasp which i find so much easier. (btw, i agree that if you size normally in the Yes! bra, the band is tight. i sized according to the chart, and now I feel like I'm fighting w/ my Yes! bra every time i get it on or off.
Absorbtion Factor: The Mimi bra has 2 layers; the inner layer is a thin cotton lining and the outer layer is the fabric of most seamless bras (mircofiber/nylon type). The Yes bra is one layer cotton. I don't wear breastpads, so I find that I don't show my leaking as much w/ the Mimi bra b/c the cotton absorbs enough and if i leak more, it doesn't often go through the think outer layer, whereas w/ the Yes! bra, once you leak a little, it's all wet -- bra & shirt.

Styling: I only wear the Mimi bra when I go out because 1. the Yes! bra gives you the sportsbra uniboob look and the Mimi bra gives me an acceptable look, 2. the Yes! bra back has the sportsbra back whereas the Mimi bra has a normal back clasp of a normal bra and you can always see the shape of the bra underneath my summer clothes, 3. i am not sure if other people have this issue, but the shoulder straps on my Yes! bra sit closer to my neck whereas the Mimi bra sits a little more away, so I can wear more clothes w/o showing the strap. Maybe it's not a matter of how it sits but a matter of how thick the straps are? i'm not sure, but all I know is that I can wear more clothes w/ the Mimi bra.

Overall, I'm not crazy about either bra and i'm still searching for my perfect bra. The Mimi would be perfect if that side seam/boning type thing didn't dig into me, so it may be perfect for you. The Yes Bra is good for when you don't know exactly what your size will be (i bought mine 2 wks b/4 delivery) because it has more give than a traditional bra. I wear the Yes bra at home like a sports bra (no shirt) when no one else is at home. I wear the Mimi whenever I am out. I also can wear knit tanks & other summer items w/ the Mimi (impossible w/ the Yes! bra). There's a place for both in my life.

Thanks for the comparison - very useful! Too bad there isn't a brick and mortar store that has ALL the nursing bras. <Sigh>

I bought some Mimi Maternity bras new on eBay for $8 (each) shipped. I love them. They are the best ones that I've found so far. I have 2 nude ones, 2 white ones, and white sports bra (all without underwire). Sometime I will feel a little like the boning is digging into me like PP mentioned, and I, too, will usualy wear them when I'm going somewhere (rather than around the house). I don't mind this too much because: A. the boning is necessary to give the bra some shape, B. most of the time it isn't digging, and C. *most importantly* these bras give me great lift and the girls look GOOD ;D
