Has anyone tried cutting feet off compression hose for the summer?

I have a couple of problem veins - around my knee and thigh area - but it's in upper 90s and 100s around here and I'm absolutely dying in the heat wearing these horrid compression hose. I'm not experiencing any swelling so would cutting off the lower 1/3 or so be a problem?
