View Full Version : Shoes as comfy as Keens--but more dressy?

Okay, I'm adicted to Keens now :) But is there a company that makes brown or black leather stylish, slightly more dressy sandals that are equally as comfortable for walking in?
I know there are some good companies out there, but I have no idea how they feel comfort wise. I like something with a good "squish" and padding to them.

I have a pair of black Born wedge heel sandals. I got them last summer and love them. They have that nice padding and "squish" factor. I hardly ever wear anything with a heel anymore, yet I still find these to be very comfortable. Here's a link to see some of their shoes (the ones I have are not on there since they were last season):

If you have a store you can go to try on a bunch, I'd highly recommend it. I was surprised at the variability in comfort, even among the same brands, when trying on the different styles of dressy sandals.

Last week, I just splurged on these Josef Seibel "Priscilla" thongs. http://tinyurl.com/333jgw
I got the lipstick color and they are super comfortable, with the soft italian leather in the soles.

I second this recommendation completely from the rec for Borns to the rec that you try a bunch on. I have 2 pairs of Borns that are really squishy comfy that never required any break-in period. I have a thired pair that, although I think they are the cutest, just don't get worn all that often because they seem to rub.
As for a place to try, if you have time, I totally recommend going to a TJ Maxx or Marshalls that has a decent shoe selection. I was able to try on a bunch, and they were radically cheaper than the same shoe I had checked out at the Walking Store. I think that the Borns I ended up getting at TJ Maxx were about 40% of the price on sale at the Walking Store.
They're not very dressy, but Danskos are incredibly comfortable. I have these in black, and can walk comfortably all day:

eta: I guess these aren't particularly stylish either, but they do have other styles. :)

Not hugely squishy, but I love Teva ventura sandals -- soft leather straps, lightweight cork sole. They have a new "ventura 2" style this year and you might find the older model on clearance.
The new one:

They also have some thong styles and other cute leather styles that look new to me in the "casual sandals" section.
Here's what the "old" ventura cork looks like:

I've seen some of the old style on ebay for less than $40 shipped (usually orange color and limited sizes)

I love my Naot sandals I bought last year. I get lots of compliments on them and oh so comfy.

Keens have a couple styles that are a little dresser you might want to consider.
