Well since I about killed my feet wearing cheapy flip flops too much, I thought I'd invest in some better quality ones. I was having a hard time pulling the trigger on $60 ones, so I ordered the Croc athens. I'm not happy with them though. For one, they're too sporty looking and I'd like to be able to wear them with casual skirts and capris. Plus they don't have a high enough arch support for me. I know that probably the best thing is to go to a shoe store and try on lots of different ones, but I don't see that happening anytime in the near future, so thought I'd ask here for recs.

As an alternative, I'm also thinking about these:

Thoughts? TIA!

I was going to suggest Keens. They are amazingly comfortable. I have horrible feet, and Keens really provide me the support I need to not get all achy at night.

Pull the trigger. You won't regret it. :)

I don't like my Crocs Athens at all either, but I have a hard time with flip flops because of the thing between my toes. I guess I don't have enough space there!

But I LOVE these: http://www.shopping.com/xPO-Montrail_Women_s_Molokini_Sandal_by_Montrail

I have some that have a pink base with a lighter pink top part (not sure of the "official" terms there), and I just bought some with a black base and a lilac top. They are not cheap, but both times I've found them on clearance for about $20 instead of $50. You put them in the oven to mold to your foot and they have good arch support even before you do that. Both the Molokai and Molokini seem pretty similar. I'm not sure if one is just last year's model instead, but I think I have one of each...

In the OVEN ?!? Wow, I've never heard of such a thing! How does the process work? And where did you find them on clearance?

I have these by Born and love them. They are way more supportive than regular flip flops and cute enough to wear with a skirt or pants as well as shorts.

I didn't pay quite this much for them, though. I can't remember where I bought them. If I find them cheaper, I'll post.

Thanks for the ideas, ladies! I've never seen the ones that go in the oven before evening, but what an interesting idea! Hmm...decisions decisions. I'm definitely going to be buying a pair, but deciding which one may be a challenge. Thanks again!

My husband has some Chaco flip flops and he says they are extremely comfortable. They have an obvious arch in them.

I second the Chaco's. The orthopedic staff at Mayo in Jacksonville even okays them.

Sherri-

I really like that first pair of Keens you showed and the pair of Borns that another PP showed. Both Borns and Keens are very comfortable for people with high arches. I also think both of those styles would go really well with skirts. Too bad I can't walk in flip-flops to save my life or I might just get a pair too.

I know! I didn't put the first pair in as long as it said because I was really nervous about putting shoes in the oven. Seemed really strange and I was afraid they might melt or something. I think it softens the base and then you're supposed to stand solidly on them for a couple of minutes to mold them to your feet.

I found one pair at either TJMaxx or Marshalls and then went to all the others in the area with no luck. And I found one online somewhere. But I wear a size 11(!) and they're usually hard to find, but sometimes, like both of these cases, I think they were the only ones left.

I totally love my Merrell flip flops. They are SOOO comfortable and good on my back and feet. Plus, I really like the look because they seem a little more streamlined and fun than other comfortable shoes I've seen. They are about $65 so they are expensive but since I wear them in lieu of athletic shoes when I go places in the summertime I feel that it is worth it.
