When do you wear maternity clothes with your 2nd?

I am 12 weeks, with my second DC, and I feel like I can't fit into any of my regular clothes any longer. With my first, I was 21 weeks before I put any maternity clothing on. Is this normal to go into maternity clothes so early the second time around?

I'm on a message board right now for moms due in November and there are quite a few veteran moms wearing maternity clothes and most are wearing their bigger sized clothes. And, IRL my friends were in their maternity clothes around week 12 with their 2nd. So, it seems pretty normal based on the moms I have talked to.

I am 12.5 weeks and can still fit into a lot of my regular clothes but bigger things are more comfortable. I can't really fit in maternity pants yet. They are too big.

Right around 11-12 weeks this time. I couldn't believe it, but there was no way the regular pants were cutting it anymore.

I bought my 1st pair of maternity pants at 11 weeks with my first! They were a little big, but most of my work pants were too tight at that point. So don't feel bad at all!

At 8 weeks I had to use the rubberband trick on my regular pants with my first (and only) kiddo. I ended up gaining 72 lbs with him and was able to drop all but 9 lbs since.

I need maternity pants and new bras earlier w/second pregnancy. The only pants that I can still wear buttoned up are the lower rise pants (which were not in style w/first pregnancy), so I am still wearing regular pants, and regular tops from my post pregnancy days--aka my "fat clothes".

Yep. I was bursting out of everything by 11 weeks with DS. I had to tell my work by about 13 weeks because it was so obvious.

There's that joke that the second time around your pants don't fit by the time you find out you're pregnant. That's what happened to me with #2. Though I didn't gain any weight for awhile, I had to stop wearing my normal pants very early on because my belly just seemed to jump out there really early, like in the 2nd month.

Tops were another story. I got away with wearing regular tops for much longer than pants then second time around.

Thanks so much for all your messages. I was feeling down about having to break out the elastic pants. I am 13 weeks and wore a pair of maternity jeans yesterday, but they fell off of me, so I am sticking with the elastic pants for now. Thanks again!

Wow! I was about 14 weeks when I started wearing maternity w/ my first (earlier for pants), 10 weeks w/ my second and was in maternity by week 7 w/ my third.

I think it was about 19-20 weeks with my first and 15-16 weeks with both my second and my third. Even now at 18 weeks I can still wear a few things that are non-maternity (one pair of jeans and some skirts that are more forgiving). But for me, it is the tops that I start to bust (literally!) out of first.

The pants joke is so true! I literally found out I was pregnant a couple of days ago (my doctor confirmed today). Darn it, I just bought new work tops a month ago. I already have a little belly. :)
