Update-Help me find Black shorts

Well I finally made it to Target w/DD2 in tow today. I found THREE different pairs of black shorts. I'm at Target like 2x a week - where were these like 3 weeks ago when I started looking?? :-) I ended up buying that pair with the rope - and really the rope is so ugly, why on earth did they do that?? I might go back for another pair, too, they had some Cherokee ones that seemed OK but I needed to try on some more and DD was antsy - tried to escape the dressing room while I had no pants on. I'll probably still check NY&co at the mall.

So thank you all for helping on my quest! You all saved my sanity.



Why oh why is this hard? I just want some black shorts, no pleats, no cuffs. Probably 3in or 5in inseam. This doesn't seem like a tall order.

I have checked the usual suspects online. Gap, ON, Banana, JCrew, Ann Taylor, AT Loft, Macys. I have not made it to Tjmaxx or Marshalls.

So, I read this and thought, "Seriously? How hard can it be to find black shorts?" and went on an online mission. I'm sorry to report, I've failed miserably. You are right. There are no black shorts in the world right now!

These look great for lazy days. Perhaps some will come live with me soon, as they are marked down, too! :-) But I am looking more for chino-type cotton shorts.

They DO NOT EXIST!!!!! I am frustrated thinking about it again. I have now additionally checked Eddie bauer, JJill, LLbean, Land's End...

Wait, wait!!!! I found some at Nordstrom!!!!!!! They are $44+ship, but I have been looking for TWO YEARS so it's fine by me. They are the Caslon Stretch Twill shorts. YAY!

Apparently Nordy's has the market cornered on plain old boring black shorts this year. Sheesh.

For me black is staple, regardless of the season. Unfortunately it seems like it is only available for Fall / Winter clothes. I have search everywhere for it, too.

The black is not as "deep" as I would like it, but it will have to do. It seems to run a little bit big. I wish they have it in size 3T, as 4T is still too big for DS now.

I actually picked up a pair at Target a week ago. (5in inseam)

you could always buy the lightest color chino shorts of your choice and DYE them black!

I don't know if you've completed your quest or whatnot, but I got the perfect pair of shorts while shopping on my own mission for the perfect pair of white shorts. I got them at NY & Co (formerly Lerner New York). They come in black, too. Everything else was too hootchie mama (short shorts...ack!), and these are great--flat front, but with side pockets and small back pockets, longer (3.5in) inseam. I love them, and have already gotten many compliments. Here they are:
