i am going to a best family friend's from childhood wedding (more like a cousin or sister than anything else). one of those events everyone comes home/travels for. so i'm obsessing a bit about what to wear. i've picked a dress i'm happy with, but it's a lake tahoe, out on the beach at sunset, dress up but wear your flip flops kinda wedding. and it gets cool quickly at night there, even in the summer. so i need a sweater.

the dress is a simple cotton, black field with large white floral print - A-line with a tie at the waist. my idea was to jazz it up with some color by wearing red sandals and a red cardigan sweater (and maybe changing the tie out for a red grosgrain ribbon as well). found the shoes, found the tie, no problem. the sweater on the other hand is proving rather difficult. no one has or is doing red for fall apparently. i visited every women's store in our large mall tonight, including nordstrom's and macy's and struck out universally. i googled for an hour tonight and have come up empty. HELP, please!!!

ideally it would be a petite medium or misses medium. true red or cherry red, not russet or burgundy or brick. i look best in something short waisted, especially if someone could find a tie front or wrap sweater like a ballet wrap or something. but not as short as a bolero or capelet type sweater. oh, and it needs to be able to provide some warmth, not a lacey open weave or eyelet.

if i totally strike out, i'll just get something black, but i'd really like red. can anyone think of one they've seen recently? or come up with a search that yields better results than mine.

TIA!!! lori

I've ordered from them before and have had good experiences. Good luck!

Try Talbots. This is from their summer sale:

And Lands End:

This is just a sampling, I am sure both sites have more to consider.

I was in Ann Taylor Loft yesterday returning some things and noticed that their colors for this season were black and red. I didn't really look around but they always have lots of cardigans and sweaters. Might be worth taking a look!

Good luck!
