Where can I find chinos that are made for women rather than pubescent girls? I'm a 6 or 8. I tried LE and they felt like old-lady kakhis so I sent them back. I'm also interested in nice cords as well.

Thanks!

Have you tried Banana Republic or Ann Taylor? They'd probably be decent bets for finding younger styles (no pleats, straight leg rather than tapered, lower waist...).

I second Ann Taylor. I'm the same size in a petite and their pants fit better than any brand I've tried. The length is perfect and they've got three styles of waists. I prefer the two that have a low rise but the more traditional fit isn't as old-lady as Land's End.

ann taylor loft is another choice for less expensive pants. banana republic is expensive, but also have great pants. and gap often has great cords. not sure what this year's style/fit will be though.

I love Ann Taylor Loft for nice-fitting pants, so I second that suggestion. I also found a few last year at Eddie Bauer - some are old-ladyish but others can be quite stylish.

Try Eddie Bauer and/or Ann Taylor. Good luck!

Thanks, everyone! I've put in an order to Eddie Bauer and JJill. They seem to be more my style (classic) and in my pricepoint. I'll let you know what happens.

Don't forget JCrew--they always have a ton of styles of chinos and cords.
