I just learned that I had been using a dangerous baby swing for my son and wanted to alert others who may be using the same kind. I bought this swing from a consignment shop and usually I'm really good about checking on the safety of products but for some reason I let this one slide. The swing (Graco) has just a lap belt (no strap in between legs) and I just learned that there have been numerous deaths from this kind of belt because the baby can slip through and get strangled. There is a bar thing that comes down in between baby's legs that's attached to tray, but if that pops open, there's nothing to prevent slippage. It sounds like Graco (www.gracobaby.com) will provide new safety belt if you have this kind of swing.
Anyway, just wanted to share, now that I'm feeling like a horrible mom. Ugh.
